5-5.5 mil. Over Nintendo... 13 11.11%

Under 5 mil. Dooooooom! 7 5.98%

Under 3 mil. SUPER DOOOOOOOOOM!! 2 1.71%

The 3DS looks flat compared to DS 2006+2007.

Were there in major game releases in the first few months for DS in 2006/2007?

I keep saying in other threads...

The 3DS declined in 2012, by 600,000 units in sales, in the U.S. - even though it had 3 more months on sale vs 2011.

It also declined in Europe by 3,000 units in sales with three more months to sell consoles.

It only saw a Year Over Year increas globally - because of Japan AND, the fact that it only had 10 months to sell in 2011.

Don't be fooled or deceived by the 3DS "outpacing" the DS.  The DS was the pioneer, the trailblazer. The 3DS launch sales stand on the shoulders of the DS's success.  In other words - the 3DS leveraged the existing "blue-ocean" of DS owners to sell to, while the DS had to carve out its own specific market.

The plain and simple fact no one wants to admit or recognize, is that globally, on a weekly basis in 2012 - the 3DS sold drastically fewer units than it did on a weekly basis in 2011, by about 50k / week.

There's no reason to believe this downward trend will be reversed. And with Smart-Phones & Tablets on the rise...the 3DS's longevity is shorter than the DS's.

No chance in hell, it passes DS lifetime.

my prediction is 3ds beats ds in Japant but loses in US & EU meaning it loses WW. and when looking at games 3ds has alot more than Monster Hunter that will help beat ds

Is this a joke thread?
If it does anyone has permission to do whatever to my sig forever. AKA not going to happen

All bow to me the VGChartz current reigning 3DS prediction champion

Bet with tbone51: Pokeon X & pokemon Y will not sell more than 8 million in 2013

July 2009 daveJ saidTrue the wii has a large lead now but by 2017 the most likely result will be 1. ps3 2. xbox360 3. wii <-- wii's successor launched in 2011 effectively killing sales of the wii

I'm pretty sure no one in this thread mentioned 3DS beating out DS in LT sales. We are just talking about a certain years sales record.

We actually don't have any sales figures yet for 3DS this year, that line is a "ghost line" that exists because the formulas for tracking 3DS sales are already in the chart.

Long story short, right now the 3DS reads "0" on those points; that will be replaced as data for the first 2 weeks comes in.

Did you read any part of this thread? Including the title, which outright states that we are specifically comparing Japanese sales here?

The plain and simple fact that 3DS naysayers don't want to recognize is that the console doesn't have a main series Pokémon game on it yet. The other bizarre fact that everyone just outright ignores because they don't know it is that the 3DS is tracking ahead of the DS in global hardware sales... and behind it in Japan.

I'll let you do the math on that one.

approximately 8 years of Vita.

With 10 years plan in tow, Vita will have an extra year to spare. Easy goal.

Ah yes, Pokemon. That's the golden bullet that will propel sales in the West and break the downward trajectory.  We'll see.

Yeah and the fact the 3DS is tracking behind in Japan...is actually a point to my argument, not yours.

Thanks.
