I keep saying in other threads...

The 3DS declined in 2012, by 600,000 units in sales, in the U.S. - even though it had 3 more months on sale vs 2011.

It also declined in Europe by 3,000 units in sales with three more months to sell consoles.

It only saw a Year Over Year increas globally - because of Japan AND, the fact that it only had 10 months to sell in 2011.

Don't be fooled or deceived by the 3DS "outpacing" the DS.  The DS was the pioneer, the trailblazer. The 3DS launch sales stand on the shoulders of the DS's success.  In other words - the 3DS leveraged the existing "blue-ocean" of DS owners to sell to, while the DS had to carve out its own specific market.

The plain and simple fact no one wants to admit or recognize, is that globally, on a weekly basis in 2012 - the 3DS sold drastically fewer units than it did on a weekly basis in 2011, by about 50k / week.

There's no reason to believe this downward trend will be reversed. And with Smart-Phones & Tablets on the rise...the 3DS's longevity is shorter than the DS's.

No chance in hell, it passes DS lifetime.

I'm pretty sure no one in this thread mentioned 3DS beating out DS in LT sales. We are just talking about a certain years sales record.
