Windows 8 offers no advantages whatsoever, and the inconvenience of a bunch of annoying extra menus that nobody will use, and the need to download an addon to bring back the start menu. I guess it's not as bad as Vista, because it actually works, but Windows 7 is far superior. |
Vista worked just fine, its 3rd party drivers that had the issues.
Anyways some of the advantages of windows 8 are convenient App store, boot up/wake up time, better battery life for portable devices and touch screen optimizaion obviously. If one looks at this list and doesn't find anything they would like to spend 39.99 on to upgrade to, they really don't need to install Windows 8.

Right, so it's a tablet OS.
And yet it's being shoehorned into the laptop market.

No it's not a table OS its a portable device optimized OS, which includes laptops. Windows 8 runs much snappier on lower/mid range laptops than windows 7 did and app store, better battery consumption are always welcome.
Desktop users (or people that are frustrated with change) may have legit reasons to crucify windows 8 if it didn't take a whole 2 minutes to install Classic shell which adds a start button, boot to desktop and allows you to use windows 8 just like windows 7. But even desktop users who are open minded and are willing to pick up some new accessories like a touchscreen monitor or a Logitech T650 touchpad can enjoy Windows 8 over Windows 7.
