This is pretty cool. I still want a 3DS though. Those Japanese imports are looking good everyday

Or you could just get one of these.

I have that one, but it doesn't emulate games or anything. It doesn't do GBA games either. Which is fine, I have the DS with the old port...

almost all of these cards can at the very least run GB/GBC emulation, most can do Picodrive and a few very dodgy super nintendo emulators will run on them, but not well and not in any state you would want to play them at. Take a look for jEnesisDS, Lameboy or NesDS if you are interested and of course if you legally own games to play on said emulators! I just wanted to be able to have my lovely pokemon yellow game on my 3ds :D

Oh, I know most do. This one just does not out of the box, but I have not tried any homebrew for it. I still have my PSP which is why I haven't bothered to try. The DS I do carry around in my purse though...

The Wii U hard drive method I only mentioned because I thought possibly it led Nintendo to realize it was a good idea to incorporate the function officially to discourage hacking for that reason. I don't know if you can install games from your physical media or not, or if it had to be downloaded straight from the Nintendo store though.

OT, The portable SNES thing is cool, especially for road trips. However, it probably still requires an invertor for your car. The 3DS doesn't need to worry about that.

Xperia Play with a SNES emulator <3

How about 10" android tablet with SNES emulator then? Then again, I hate the lack of physical buttons. But you can buy a bluetooth/maybe usb adapter for android devices.

A bit of old school Zelda on the go? yes plz :)

I think you ought to change your thread title... I'd hardly call whatever that thing is "portable". I also fail to see what that has to do with 3DS?

mate has one and indeed without L and R and the onscreen controls tablet emulators are really nothing more than a proof of concept, they're not actually enjoyable to use at all

@marucha aye indeed the psp is the god of emulation, I love going back to finish some Snes rpgs on the go now and then and ALTTP is one of them, but the other portable version I have is the GBA one and that has link with his smash bros scream every time you swipe the sword, adore the psp for having the original on there. If only it was a few mhz faster for proper N64 emulation but what can you do :) I guess it can do a fair attempt at some of the 4mb games like Mario64. The reason for poking about with what the DS can emulate is just because I like to see what extra things each homebrew allows, for that reason I have a NES emulator on my N-gage :D also once gave my brother a present of an original xbox but with all it's Xboxness removed from it which just booted into a massive Mame library really cool because he doesn't take part in owning a PC but loved the Arcades in the 90s.

Better at what? Being big and clunky? Oh man, can't wait to play Star Fox SNES on the go... except that I could just play 64 3D, a much better game, on 3DS.

Oh but wait, SNES has Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy... so does 3DS, thanks to backwards compatibility with DS games.

Super Mario World & Yoshi's Island? NSMB, NSMB2, 3D Land, Land 1 & 2, Wario Land, SM64DS, SMB, Lost Levels, SMB3 soon...

Super Mario RPG? Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time / Bowser's Inside Story, Paper Mario: Sticker Star...

A Link to the Past? Is that the only Zelda game on SNES? 3DS already has Ocarina of Time 3D, Link's Awakening, Zelda 1 & 2, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, plus Four Swords Anniversary Edition and The Minish Cap if you were quick to pick one up.

Anything SNES can do, 3DS can do better.

THIS!
