Very intresting read. How did you get this numbers?
Glad to see a list with some "new" games, haven't made any objects below 500k myself lately.
Kinda curious to see what baseline we will get between WiiU/Orbis/Durango
Yeah HD games focus more on textures then pushing more polygons. The games still kull unneeded polygons to enhance performance, and save CPU/GPU processing power. The multiple layers of textures and mapping create the illusion of shape better in small areas with less of a proformance hit then increasing the number of polygons.
Someone brought up CGI, the artists that make CGI are not looking to stabilize framerate or to optimize the workload like the artisits that work on games are. Since most CGI work is stationary, or on a limited scale; pumping up the number of polygons doesn't affect their work and saves time.
EDIT: Sorry I think the screen protector on my phone is loose so it causing my phone to go berserk.

According to Square, Lightning has 30,000 polygons. So something is fishy here. I think I'll trust Square in this cases ince absolutely no credible source was given.

I think Square is talking about the CGI version and not the ingame version... I will check... anyway 8k polygons is pretty huge for RPGs.
