If anything I'd like to see a Nintendo Sony mash up. It would save Nintendo the hassle of making hardware. And Sony the hassle of trying to find their Mario. So it's perfect. And me the hassle of buying two consoles. Win Win for everyone. But perfect world there would be one console that plays all the games and works on every network, PSN, LIVE, and Nintendo and uses the controller of your choice. While each company can release their own add on, IE Kinect, Gamepad, move.
I think Nintendo and Sony would make a good pair. Just like they were supposed to be a loooooong time ago. Still breaks my heart every time I think about it...
7 years ago people were predicting Nintendo would stop producing consoles and focus on game development only. Now the same is being said of Sony.

I remember hearing that! I was young it was because of GCN! Mario said "Oh Hell Ah No Luigi, Wii Got To Stop This Ah Bull****" Lol!
I really wish there was a "merge" option as opposed to one company owning the other. I think all of them are best left independent in their approaches to development, though Nintendo and Sony would be a dangerously good hardware collaboration. I can see it now. $350 - $400 consoles with unique features and efficient but reasonbly powerful components, married with a first-party lineup that cannot be beat. Don't get me started on how great a Sontendo handheld would be.

There is no merging, Especially Sony and Nintendo lol, it seem like they rather shoot the other than to shake hands IMO!
MS buying Nintendo. Makes the most sense business wise and gamer wise. Nintendo and MS 1st party games, plus the MS 3rd party effect. In Japan the consoles could keep the Nintendo name, I doubt the population there would be open minded enough to buy a western console even if it launched with Mario and Zelda. They continue to dominate the US (the biggest gaming market) and with Nintendo on board, would be #1 in Europe as well.

*drools* with Sony's diverse and new IPs and Nintendos legendary franchises there would be no equal...like ever
Since Microsoft is the most financially stable of the three, Microsoft owning Nintendo would be the most plausible scenario. Nintendo might become like Sega in the future and just make games. Nintendo could help Microsoft with their Windows Phone platform to take on the iPhone/iPod touch with their casual games and Apps. Microsoft owning Sony is possible too but that would be a giant acquisition so it's not likely. Sony could help Microsoft on the hardware side when it comes to future technology like 4k, 3d, and some new disc format that holds more space.
