Alright, I'll comment.
The truth is this naming thing will always throw up these issues. It was bound to happen. For it to still be happening is a concern, however, especially from mainstream media. Nintendo has never once marketed the Wii U as a portable Wii; people see second screen and assume portable. This is a problem I have witnessed first-hand. Whilst looking at the Wii U section of a local games store one person came in, tried the demo kit and bought the console.
However, the consumer initially thought the Wii U was just a Wii accessory and was stunned to discover it was a new console. They even did research online into it after seeing the adverts. Perhaps the branding was just too similar; and with Wii adverts for games like JD4 still airing, it's understandable.
