Forums - Sony Discussion - How has Sony not fixed marketing yet?

I don't see many PS3 ads where I am, and when I do they are pretty lack luster, and take themselves to seriously. On the other hand Nintendo, and Xbox ads always have a fun vibe to them.

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

I have seen a few for Wonderbook and LBP Karting. I'm sure we will see more, next year when there bigger exclusives are coming out.

Starhawk was great to play, but the Online was the best part. The only problem with it was that, it was nothing like Warhawk. Twisted Metal, I hate the controls and I don't know why. I played the hell out of Black and I think that was the best part of buying the game at release.

I think Sony is final making a profit again and that's why we are see a bit more advertisements from them as of lately. I also see a few Vita Advertisements, but those were mainly for AC3:L.

I think PlayStation All-Stars will sell based off of word of Mouth and doesn't really need Ads, but they could help.

I hope Last of Us, Beyond, Sly, Puppeteer, and God of War get some serious ads in every region.  They look like they're gonna deserve some good sales and I don't remember seeing a single ad for Heavy Rain despite it selling over 2 million.  Imagine what Last of Us and Beyond can do with some good ads.  Advertising Sly could get a younger crowd too and God of War doesn't have the hype a God of War game should after 3's numbers.  We'll see they may have a price cut early next year to $199 and really explode in sales with all these exclusives even after PS4 is announced.

The only ads I see are the ads Assassin's Creed: Liberation, Playstation AllStars Battle Royale and Far Cry 3. The only one that actually gives enough indication of it being a video game is Far Cry 3...which is multiplatform. Sony really need to advertise their games instead of showing "Real life" trailers.

agreed and the European Allstars ad was way better than the NA one.  Also they should advertise Drake, Sackboy, Kratos, and Sweet Tooth rather than people like Fat Princess and Cole which aren't nearly as popular.  Now once the game is sold on the big guns those other characters can get noticed through it and then you advertise their next game heavily to draw on that interest (Kid Icarus scenario).

Well Infamous 2 was boring, Resistance 3 came after the utterly terrible Resistance 2 which burned a lot of people and Twisted Metal was always niche. This is hardly the stuff for a great marketing campaign really.

Tease.

sony have pushed the boat out on TV ads recently. far more than anyone else.

No they havent, just Uncharted 3 and the Vita. The problem is their budget is primarily used to make games and everything else comes second. With Microsoft its the opposite, marketing > games.

Twisted Metal sold millions on PSone and Black even sold millions on PS2 despite becoming niche.  Now it sells half a million with no support.  Should have been more heavily advertised.  Infamous 2 was awesome and all the more reason to advertise 3 through gameplay and improvements to get people to check it out and see how much better it got.
