Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Monolith Soft wants to be like Bethesda

Wii U needs a nice, big, original JRPG, and Monolith is the one to do it. Except for Intelligent Systems making Fire Emblem, there are no other JRPG-like series within Nintendo's first-party studios.

OT: The very day Monolith Soft releases a game of similar quality than Xenoblade on the Wii U in Europe, I will buy a Wii U.

Ninendo has a few developers that could make RPGs and some have a good track record of doing so:

Genius Sonority - Last game Dempa Men - founded by one of head producers of the DQ series

Monolith Soft

IS - Fire Emblem

Brownie Brown

Camelot - They developed the Shining series for Sega they are now a second party for Nintendo. The last RPG they made was Golden Sun

The problem comes in with the development cost/pay off of creating such titles. But if Monolith Soft could pull off a big RPG we may see more in the genre from Nintendo, heck it may reinvigorate the genre.
