Forums - Sony Discussion - Is the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion any good?

Tagged games:

Elder Scrolls is mainly a PC game, so you know. There it has an awesome mod community but it is still pretty good on consoles and Bethesda loads their games up with expansions (DLC).

If you are having trouble getting into Oblivion my best advice is to do Dark Brotherhood immediately as it is probably the best side story experience in the game. Better than Skyrim's.

Honestly Elder Scrolls III Morrowind is the best game but it is only on the original Xbox or PC. The requirements are pretty low so almost anything should be able to run it. On PC you can download mods to improve textures, characters, particles, practically anything. Though combat wise it isn't as good as oblivion the story, world, and quests were all better.

Oblivion, while having some really good things in it, isn't as good as Morrowind or Skyrim. If Oblivion's downgrade from Skyrim is too much of a shock to you then you probably won't like Morrowind. Skyrim is a great game but it didn't fix everything that made Oblivion worse than Morrowind.

Still Oblivion is pretty good and has a great Dark Brotherhood, Thieves guild, and Dedra quests. The Shivering Isles expansion is also very good.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

umm guys - how do you leve up on this game?? it told me to go meditate or some shit like that but im kinda in a tower and the Daedra are trying to slay me!

You need to sleep

EDIT: I didn't reload the site >.>

TES 3> TES 4> TES 5 if you played them in order. But since you played skyrim first and seem to care about graphics I can see why 4 is underwhelming. I would check out the arena and the guilds, especially dark brotherhood.

The OP reminds me of Cloud

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

woohoo! whether that was meant as a compliment or not I'm loving this! Thanks! =D

Skyrim is an evolution of and a perfected form of Oblivion's basic game design. Might as well get the real deal, go with Skyrim.

I'm actually really enjoying my time with Oblivion - a lot more than I thought I would. I just wish I'd played it before Skyrim so I had that wow factor at the time. That said, I'm a trophy whore so I'll do this!

There are some things that I liked better in Oblivion than skyrim, but it is a much older game than skyrim and will probably show its age since you already played skyrim.

On the plus side, Oblivion is a lot more exploitable than skyrim. That might be a good way to differentiate the game and make it different from skyrim. Try getting some armor together with a camouflage that adds up to 100%. Turns you completely invisible, enemies will never know you are there
