Will the 3DS beat its sales for 2011?

The predictions here show that many users on this site have no idea what they are talking about. Perhaps I don't either but remember that the last week of this year includes the 24th & 25th, whereas last year it did not. It is also worth noting that New Years is the big holiday for Japan. I can see the 3DS up 4 - 7% with a much weaker holiday lineup. Expect both Nintendo systems to be up YoY next holiday season too; although industry hardware sales to be down yet again.

First of all i said this alot. Thank you very much and second its 23rd and 24th, Only Europe and Japan gets sales on 25th (USA stores are closed)! With two days before christmas, last minute shoppers will spend alot! I wouldn't be suprised if 3DS sells 650k next

2011 2012
3DS 13,250,062 ---> 13,109,847
PSV 481,573 ---> 3,459,539

OK perhaps you will say but the PSV was only available for a couple of months in 2011, true but the 3DS only launched in march 2011, So you're comparing 12 months vs 10 months

Now for a valid comparison how were march->december 2012 vs 2011 with the 3DS, did it sell more?

Comparing March to Dec makes no more sense than the full year. Since March was a launch month it had a build-up of supply and demand giving it 3 months worth of sales. No point in making that comparision.

If you apply the same reasoning to the Vita, then its had a very impressive year this year

its like 700% growth YOY!!!!

It would seem congratulations are in order for the 3DS, I had my doubts that it would do it when I made this thread but I'm glad I've been proven wrong.
