This is the reason I buy Nintendo Products! Small steps people and our environment will be saved.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, and that's good to hear about the Wii U using less power--that's always a good thing--but isn't Nintendo considered the worst of the Big Three in terms of negative environmental impact?

Because they won't release their info to Greenpeace.  They automatically give them a low rating due to them not giving a shit about Greenpeace.

I thought it was because Nintendo doesn't/didn't care where their materials came from?

I added more to my previous post.  Here is more from that article.

"but while Nintendo made some positive changes in banning phthalates, selling consoles with PVC-free wiring and monitoring use of other toxic materials, the company's abysmal record in e-waste and CO2 emissions dragged down its score."

Managing e-waste....  How many people do you know throw out their Nintendo consoles?  I am sure some do but I believe most don't.  They usually are number 1 in reliability (aka their systems usually last).  Their e-waste program is storage at Gamestop for those that trade their consoles in.

yeah it does not suck powa!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

It's good that they're making progress, even if they need to do more.  I think with e-waste the issue is with recovering certain elements, though I don't know about the Nintendo situation specifically.

This is what I was referring to:

"Gaming giant Nintendo is the worst company for ensuring that materials used in its electronics are not linked to bloodshed in war-torn regions"  http://news.mongabay.com/2012/0616-conflict-minerals.html#vAuzg3qTTbtPIsLU.99

Nintendo got the lowest score of ANY company, though it looks like Japanese companies in general aren't very good.

Blood Diamond 2: Nintendo's Wrath

They are probably going for the cheapest price on materials and don't care too much about conflicts in certain areas (Africa).  They could probably care a little more but more people would probably care about the system price than people dying in war torn areas.  People mainly like to seem to care.

OK, that was pretty funny.  I had an image of Iwata dressed up like Indiana Jones, whip and everything.

As a devoted Nintendo fan since as long as I can remember, I can honestly tell you all that this sort of news really warms my heart.

*tries to keep a straight face*

Everything consumes power. All three consoles consume much less than the average PC.

I still use tungsten bulbs because they're a lot better for your health and your eyes than flourescent lighting. And I have a fat PS3.
