Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why does it seem like the vita is getting more games than the 3ds?

If you have been following the industry the last years you should know that lots of third parties love to put their resources in games for the strongest system that is selling less than the competition so they can close studios and fire people.

I'm a little confused about the OP.

Vita has about 50.
3DS has about 150.

Are we talking announced games for 2013?

lol the sad part is before I read your post I assumed 3DS had like maybe 40 games. Well that is what it appears to be like in Australia at least everytime I look at the shelves.

It is much easier to make a Vita game than a 3DS game, simple as that. Therefore big franchises that sell millions are usually on 3DS while all the other smaller games find a home on Vita. PSN and PSM really help this.

Also the Vita is more into DLC so of course it gets a lot of that too.

that is not true.

the truth is the Nintendo logo is like kryptonite to 3rd party devs.

It has more games, simple as that. The problem is the price of the system but once sony fixes that, it should sell a bit more.

Someone once told me that Sony has every right to make money off of their stuff. Like selling PSV memory at a hefty price and is the right decision. Why should they cut the price of PSV when they are already losing money on it?

They are counteracting the loss on the vita by selling the memory cards at that price. As they months go by, the parts in the vita will get cheaper to produce and so they can drop the price. Business 101.  I know you are trying to be a smart ass but two can play that game buddy.

Wait. Are you calling me a smart ass or are you calling us smart asses?

I guarantee you that my ass is not smart. It's good for sitting and shitting.

Well, keep in mind that's not 150 must-play games :) But there's no denying that 3DS has more games; it's been out longer so it should have more. If we're talking quality over quantity, then I don't really have an answer. I've only played a few 3DS games and no Vita games yet.

In terms of 2013, there are a few sexy titles for both:

For Vita:
Dragon's Crown
Killzone Mercenary (I'm especially excited for this one)
Soul Sacrifice
Dead or Alive 5 Plus
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time

For 3DS:
Animal Crossing
Fire Emblem (new footage from Nintendo Direct looks awesome)
Luigi's Mansion
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate
Brain Age

So it's looking good for both!

Maybe it's because they celebrate every single obscure niche game even if it hasn't any chance of releasing outside of japan. I don't care for games like Senran Kagura on either platform but it is very funny how the shinovi game is treated as the second coming of our big busted lord jesus christ around here. Also, the amount of PS3 down ports should ring some alarm bells, considering Sony's self proclaimed target audience is PS3 gamers. Why should they make the jump for games they can already play on their home console?

There is still only Soul Sacrifice and Killzone that interest me on the PSV no matter how much the rest gets hyped.

"Maybe it's because they celebrate every single obscure niche game even if it hasn't any chance of releasing outside of japan." <-- this!.. while majority of 3DS owners just go on about their business continuing to enjoy their successful 3DS handheld.. lol we know the games are coming .. no need to celebrate every announcement .. lol its probably sony marketing to make vita look attractive or something..
