Forums - Gaming Discussion - Pachter: Activision to buy Take-Two, Nintendo becoming "completely irrelevant"

archbrix said:

“I think you're going to see now with the Wii U, notwithstanding its early launch support, nobody's going to support it,” Pachter claimed.

Well, if the behind the scenes rumors we heard last week about next gen/E3 are true in part, Nintendo has a particular, "partnership that will cause huge shocks when it’s announced even worse than Bayonetta 2".  Seeing as how the WiiU is set to dominate the console space in Japan (my opinion) and that controller is a perfect fit for RPGs...

Let's just say that Pachter is being presumptuous (big surprise, I know) with his statement of nobody supporting WiiU.

Where did you hear about this?

For a frame of reference, how often exactly has Pachter been right about anything? Seriously I always see stuff by this guy, and I never bother to look back to see if he's right.

most of the time everything says the oposite happens

Just rumors, so take from them what you will:

Well that is interesting. Pachter is right on the money with a lot of things, I think this prediction is very good.

He said some pretty interesting things, many of them hard to deny. “Activision's going to try it, because they're greedy pigs, and they're bold," is one of the best things any analyst has ever uttered. I hope he's wrong about the Bungie thing, though. His analysis of most of the big publishers seems to be true, as well.

As far as the Nintendo predictions, it could go either way. There is the possibility that Nintendo won't win back the core OR the casual crowds in huge numbers. Not saying that will happen, just that I think Nintendo has some work to do; they can't just walk into next year thinking they'll automatically be successful. Early 2013 might make or break the Wii U.

He also appears to be spot on about the digital distribution portions of the industry, and unlike many other 'doom and gloom' analysts, he's right that the gaming industry is pretty healthy when you don't focus completely on boxed games.

If you stop quoting Pachterdamus, he will simply disappear.

I vote for making Pachter-quotes a bannable offense on vgchartz.com

"Well certainly with the Xbox 360, we had some challenges at the launch. Once we identified that we took control of it. We wanted to do it right by our customers. Our customers are very important to us." -Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb (10/2013). Note: RRoD was fixed with the Jasper-revision 3 years after the launch of 360

"People don't pay attention to a lot of the details."-Yusuf Mehdi explaining why Xbone DRM scheme would succeed

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it's called Xbox 360,”-Don Mattrick

"The region locking of the 3DS wasn't done for profits on games"-MDMAlliance

i always have the feeling that he has no idea what hes talking about

Well, no, which is why he's talking about Activision buying Take-Two.  Which I very much hope does not happen.

Ah, wait ... waaaiit.
