Thats what Sony gets for taking focus off of Japanese oriented games and focusing only on America and Europe. If Sony would've kept an eye out for Japan and kept gaming going strong over there on their end not only would their Japanese game sales be great, but they would also been ahead of Microsoft by quite a bit of consoles. PS3 was expensive as hell everywhere, including in Japan. That's the reason PS3 is barely over 8.5mil in Japan.

Then why isn't it selling now? It has nothing to do with that anymore. Sony alienated the Japanese.

I'd argue it was the Japanese developers that alienated the Japanese. Case and point RE6 and FF13.

Outside of fighting games Capcom sold out the Japanese long ago. Square Enix top titles right now outside of Final Fantasy XIII are majorly western.
