Correct. This awards are only for games in a single year, so you won't see that many outside of big hits.

It has universal appeal, I have received several messages in Japanese after completing a play through.
No clue what they said though, maybe "Hey dumbass couldn't you see I was trying to get the no damage trophy"

The in six years have just one game that sold more than 1 million in Japan... this year awards was really good because there are five titles over 500k (it's better than previous years).

This award is like the BIU in Germany... 1 year sales only.

Thats what Sony gets for taking focus off of Japanese oriented games and focusing only on America and Europe. If Sony would've kept an eye out for Japan and kept gaming going strong over there on their end not only would their Japanese game sales be great, but they would also been ahead of Microsoft by quite a bit of consoles. The PS2 broke twenty three million consoles, and now they cant even break nine in Japan. This is very telling and they need to learn from this.

PS3 was expensive as hell everywhere, including in Japan. That's the reason PS3 is barely over 8.5mil in Japan.

Then why isn't it selling now? It has nothing to do with that anymore. Sony alienated the Japanese.
