Forums - General Discussion - 12-12-12 is the last time you'll ever see repeating numbers in the calender

I took it alll for granted and now it's too late to appreciate it. Then again, I do hate redundancy.

Not exactly! Some of us might well live to be 100+

yeah, well... good luck with that!!

It's very very likely I'd say that many are going to reach 100 years. The average life expectancy is increasing almost by the day and in 100 years I suspect that it will be around or over 100 years for both men and women, unless a big world war breaks out.

isn't the most important reason for that the decreasing childhood mortality? i believe in 1880 every fourth kid or so died before it was 5 years old and if they would have had the same rate as we have nowadays the difference wouldn't be even that big (i'm talking about germany now, not sure how many kids died in other developed countries back then)

so i think you are way off with an average of 100 and btw if they talk about the average life expectancy they talk about new born so if you read that we have a life expectancy of 83 nowadays they talk about the new born babies which would be only 89 in the year 2101

Decreasing mortality was certainly a huge factor, but another factor is also much better medical care and it's very possible that we'll have better treatments for all kinds of illnesses than we do now, like cancer.

No they can't be talking about new born babies because they have no idea how long they will live on average. They use average age at the time of death, using newborns doesn't make sense as far as I see it.

i'm sure it's life expectancy of new borns, at least that's how we calculate it in germany. i also don't understand why but i'm sure that's the case. so at least with german logic (lol), a german born today will die way before 2001 on average.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

haha got me^^

btw i checked it and at least the united nations and the cia (haha) use life expectancy at birth.

and the biggest problem, even if we reach that age most of us won't see numbers in a calender anymore then

Funny thing about Deus Ex is that is not only sci-fi as it is alternate history. Robotics and cybernetics advanced very quickly on their world after WW2 and in their world they had like olympics of augmented people this year in London haha. Awesome.

Anyways like expectancy should increase all the way up to 90 on developed countries by the end of the century. I don't know if that's the expectancy of those born by then or the average age people will be dying so... but yeah, some of the younger members will likely see 01-01-01.

A cool little consolation is that most of us will see 1-2-34, unless some crackpots start some crazy shit on 12-21-12.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Huh, that's kind of nifty.
