Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 is #1 for Netflix Streaming in the Living Room

I only use Netflix on the Wii and PS3 and I can say that the PS3 app is light years ahead. I love the interface.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

I didn't know the Netflix app on PS3 was superior; why would that be the case? Also, I would image the PS3 would be the one hooked up to the best television and sound system in homes that also have a 360 because of it's Blu-Ray abilities.

Well the PS3 have the best Netflix app... so I use it too even with Netflix in my HDTV and PC I prefer to use the PS3.

same here.  Up at school I have my PS3 right next to my laptop on my desk but it's so much nicer to use the PS3 because it is better organized and skips over the opening songs if you watch more than one episode which is nice.  I hate the Wii one.  At home I use it if I don't bring my PS3 with me for a weekend or Thanksgiving break and the damn thing takes forever to load and is a bitch to search for things by trying to type with the Wiimote.

Not sure about the other ones (I amfairly positive the Wii version does not do this) but with the PS3 if you are watching a TV series and the episode ends, during the credits you get an outline of what the next episode is about along with a small picture of it. This comes with a 20 second countdown and when the countdown ends the next episode begins. No need to worry about having your controller next to you, just simply start your program and relax. It's easily my favorite feature right now. If you are watching a movie and it ends you get a nice "Thanks for watching" screen along with suggestions for other movies similar to the one you just watched and you can click on one if you wish and it will then begin.

The IU is also very clean looking and easy to navigate. Very user friendly overall.

Suck it 360 this is why you should not charge people for a service they already pay for.

I found it the easiest and most responsive to use.
However it still misses some features that the pc has. I have to go to the pc to change the quality (with limited bandwidht I had to switch to low quality at the end of the month).
And the pc has a much bigger list of content that you have already viewed with how far you are in each program. My kids tend to fill up the recent buffer with their cartoons. With my lagging memory I had to go to the pc version to find what I was watching, start it and stop it to get it back in the recent list on the ps3 Netflix app.

But maybe it is different now? I cancelled it a couple of months ago and switched to ps+ instead. The kids were using up all the bandwidth watching the same cartoons over and over again that they can just as easily watch on tv or pop in the dvd. Games only need downloading once :)

also if you're watching that series the next episode skips over the opening title for you which is a really nice feature.  I'm going through the South Park Christmas collection right now and it's nice to have to scroll through those 40 seconds or so each time.

When Netflix finally decided to automatically play the next episode in a TV series there was great rejoicing. Unsurprising news, really.

I wonder if it's because of this--"we can transparently update our application with new features on a daily basis," with the PS3 often described as an "open" system. Does Microsoft control their "partners" (their term) apps as tightly as they do game access? Does the Gold requirement make LIVE a less enticing choice than PSN for entertainment apps?

PS3 has the best interface, and the app isn't behind a paywall.
