I wonder if it's because of this--"we can transparently update our application with new features on a daily basis," with the PS3 often described as an "open" system. Does Microsoft control their "partners" (their term) apps as tightly as they do game access? Does the Gold requirement make LIVE a less enticing choice than PSN for entertainment apps?
