Forums - Nintendo Discussion - My impressions on Wii U...

Ive only spent a few days with the gamepad, but i can honestly say its one of the most clever and innovative control methods i have ever used. I only hope 3rd parties can tap into its potential, its awesome.

The best 2-player game I've played so far on NintedoLand is Zelda Battle Quest, very unique gameplay for the wiimote (swordsman) and gamepad (archer) and both characters are fun, after playing that I completely get the asymmetric gameplay aspect of the Wii U gamepad/wiimotes combo.

I bought a Wii U on a whim (i did not play the Wii a ton, just for a few key games) and so far I like it. Mario is Mario, very good for short to medium shurts cant sit there for more than 2 hours on it, but that is fine. Got madden, I like it, I also see how amazing the possibilities are, Madden 2013 Wii U is good, but it could be great. watch out next year. Refining some of the gamepad stuff and optomizing the engine for the Wii U will do wonders.

Only issue with Wii U is that abotu 50% of game wont gain a huge benefit from the 2nd screen. Even Mario really does not, but it works really well on just the gamepad which is nice because my Wife can watch her shows and I can still search for secrets on the gamepad. But I am not seeing where games like Smash Bros, Call of Duty, etc will benefit from the gamepad. However, I think the virtual console will be great on it because the graphics are not HD to begin with.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

You should try to not play alone to see how various games differ with/out the WiiU gamepad.

Wii U is essentially the Wii experience + the PS3 experience + the Twitter experience + the 3DS experience and all new styles of stuff that come by mixing the DNA's of these experiences.

The motion control on the Wii U gamepad is pretty much perfect.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I'm actually becoming a really big fan of Nintendo Land. This is the game that will inspire thousands of inferior versions of it made by third parties.

hehehe
