Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Metal Gear Solid 4 finally coming to 360 ?

Konami again put cold water again.

I think the possible the MGS3 to release in 360 is below 0.

Its not going to happen. They'll have to recode the entire game, compress 50gig in god knows how many disc. remove the ps3 controller that controls the Mk.II robot. remove audio from certain scene such as when otacon accidentally tells snake to swap disc on the ps1..(how many scenes will otacon tell snake to swap disc if it was on the 360?) and they'll have to remove the ps3 system that is in the kitchen in the nomad airplane. Also maybe the features in the game that uses the pressure sensitive face buttons. Not sure if 360 controllers have that.

sorry about spoilers

i'm surprised at some people... and not in a good way

MGS4 isn't 50GB.

It's about 26GB for the US version.

Most of which was uncompressed audio, which has no virtue on the Xbox 360 since all audio is re-coded to 640kbps DD5.1 for output, we went through this discussion about 5 years ago. MGS4 could easily be done with compressed audio and more compression on video with single dual layer DVD.

But how are they gonna get all that power to run on 360? its obvious no 360 game could ever look or play that good.

You are kidding right?

360 hit its high in 2007:

MGS4 is too much power for 360.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

"recode the entire game" Nah, just port it to the Fox engine and it's ready to ship.

"compress 50gig in god knows how many disc" It had redundant data to reduce slow read times because the PS3 BR drive is so slow. Throw out the redundant junk, compress the rest and you have a two or three disc game at the most.

"remove the ps3 controller that controls the Mk.II robot" Easy

"remove audio from certain scene" Easy

"remove the ps3 system" Easy

"pressure sensitive face buttons" They did it for the HD collection.

You have my sympathy If all game developers was like you.

edit: thank goodness the talented ones are not.

Your attitude is really off here, you go insulting others but you spread more misinformation than most. MGS4 50GB, total nonsense.

Would you like me to give you a run down of the ratio of types of data on the disk and all the languages on the disk that aren't needed if released on a per region basis like a lot of games are?

You really should look at yourself first and your own track record of not being 100% accurate before throwing stones at others, because your contribution here is completely wrong and then you go having a dig at someone else who is actually correct ending with a nice rude comment to imply they are an idiot.

I think you should have a think about who smells of roses, and who doesn't.

Thanks fillet. I usualy don't ask anyone to fight my battles for me, but you said pretty much everything I was going to say. Saved me a mini-rant. :)

It sounds like it was a false ad, but I still believe it's possible to port to the 360.
