Why would they put it on WiiU? The Nintendo core crowd will already own a 3DS and they clearly not interested in this game, putting it on WiiU would result in just as bad sales if not worse.

You can blame the bad sales partially on Capcom.

RE Merceneries only allowed one save file that couldn't be deleted.  After that point not many wanted to care for the Revelations. Even though the game is great.

Also WiiU fans would buy it if it had wii remote controls.

Look at RE4. Same crowd probably got it on GCN before.

this would only make sense if Mercernaries sold better than Revelations...which it didnt.

A person doesn't have to have purchased Mercenaries to have been swayed by the negitive PR that Capcom drummed up with it's pre owned value being nil, I had been planning to pick up Revelations on launch but after hearing what they did with Mercs I held off til just recently and picked it up Preowned. Gotta send a message with your wallet that on disc dlc and attempts on the used market wont fly.

clearly you are in the minority, because it doesnt change the fact that Revelations almost doubled the sales of Mercernaries, so obviously people were not that turned off by mercenaries that they didnt purchase Revelations. Maybe they just saw Mercenaries for what it was, a cheap cash in.

That is why I said partiallyimpacted.

Capcom made no effort to let people knwo of the change, so who knows how many of those who knew about merchenaries skipped revelations.

I Know many copies of merchenaries did get returned in my local area at dedicated game stores. Even some of the sales staff were warming people about the issue and that the trade in value foe the game would be significantly lower due to the one save. Some store didn't even accept the game as trade in because of it.

Considering that Revelations is the 7th highest metacritic rated retail game on the 3ds yet it sits at 17th in the Sales chart here behind the likes of Sonic at the olympics and Lego Star wars I think it's safe enough to assume that the sales of this game were heavily affected by outside factors. Very least of these factors at the time being the bad PR capcom recieved from both Street fighter X Tekken's on disk dlc and Mercenaries having no resell value thanks to the save data.

No effort? Capcom touted it as a true RE game for 3ds, it got just as much ads and attention as Mercenaries if not more. WHat more could they have done? If people chose to shut down after Mercenaries, thats on them, but looking at the sales, they didnt. I dont think it was impacted at all, unless you believe Revelations would have sold better if Mercs, didnt exist

I think you're wrong, bad PR? lets be real, SFxTekken is a very different game than RE, different genre, different systems, diff. everything. People who are interested in that, would not really be interested in RE. DO you really believe that the majority of people out there even follow those kinds of news? I seriously doubt it, hell id be surprised if most of them know that those two games are made by the same company or if they even care. Id say Mercenaries had a SMALL and I mean small impact, Revelations still blew past it, so it cant have been much of a factor.

IMHO, i think people are just ignoring the fact that Revelations, just might not have been released on the "right" system. RE is a game that doesnt seem to fit with the 3ds crowd that much, or it just needs time to establish a fanbase on the system, comparing it to Sonci and Lego...those games were always popular on the portables, so its almost not a fair comparison. Which is strange because RE is so high rated and only a few are buying it, if anything it should be doing much better because this is the type of game that would be more affected by reviews than olympics or Lego games. No, im not buying the bad PR thing, not when the other Re games have been doing MUCH better. RE6 blew past it, no surprise there, but ORC got worst reviews, is a spin-off, released later and wasnt even developed in house by Capcom and the 360 version alone sold better, and Revelations had multiple price cuts...its f****d up

In my opnion the problem with Revelations sales is that it was released on a handheld not that it was released on 3DS

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

Wow, This is good news for those who never got to play Revelations. To be honest, It's definetly one of the Best in the Franchise, Even though I found the charm of playing it on the 3DS under the covers of my bed and lights turned off lol. It's a really good game!

I think they missed a trick here. They should have re-released Mercenaries with multiple save-state support.

DLC: Ability to reset save states.

The Mercenaries game may have burned some RE fans that were drawn to the 3DS due to Revelations and Merc 3D due to how half assed it was and scared them away from Revelations despite the reviews pointing to the contrary for this installment. However, I suspect the RE game Capcom released that hurt Revelations sales was actually Operation Raccoon City.

They released that game around the same time as Revelations for PS3 and 360, combined with it sucking and the previous issues fans had with Merc 3D and even RE5, that may have broke the camel's back to the point fans were willing to give the spin off a shot. A shame because it actually had much of the gameplay RE fans have been craving since RE4 changed the dynamics more toward action. But given the general response to RE6, Revelations will probably be used as dangling bait for gamers that disliked RE6.
