I swear there is a weird smell the gamepad makes. It is either the gamepad,my apartment, or me.

Er, my gamepad doesn't smell.

Mine smells like plastic.

Smells like what?..pizza?

Not sure I turned it on and sniffing it right now.  Smells like plastic but I believe the plastic odor becomes stronger when it heats up.  I think the smell that was bothering me was my woman's hair.

On a side note the buttons (yxba) rattle when you shake the controller.  Even putting your hand over the buttons slightly can have it make noise.  Same thing happens when you put your finger on buttons of the GCN, Classic Controller, and a few other controllers that I tested.  They just don't make the noise as much when shaking.

i would guess based on your description the smell is plasticizer.  it's used in most any plastic processing and should generally go away after a week or so.  that "new car smell" many people like is plasticizer.  it would make sense the smell increases as it heats up.

oh, btw.  plasticizer is cancerous.  the amounts we are exposed to with new products is generally too low concentration to matter ... but you probably should avoid putting your nose right into it.

Cancer is fine as long as it is imported from China.  I just wanted to tell you a story about car smell.  My mom used to drive a Pontiac which smell would make me nauseous.  No other car ever did this to me but when I was riding in her Pontiac I would get sick.  The smell would just make me nauseous and I would have to roll the windows down and pretty much act like a dog just to not get sick.  It wasn't a new car smell.  It was just a smell and it only bothered me.  Pretty weird huh?

Lots of people complained about the 360 and ps3 too. No good games? Red Ring of Death? $600!?? No rumble? Every launch is rough, but also fun to be a part of. I think most that have the U are having a blast figuring it out. I can't wait to pick up my (delayed) pre-order this week.

Great post here.

Complaining? You call THIS complaining?? LMAO

Try being a PlayStation fan back when the PS3 launched..

This happens with every console and will happen with ps4 & 720.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

I was just watching TV and this whizkid was introducing the WiiU and said: a downside is the battery life.. it goes down within 3 to 5 hours.. the female presentor said: that's good, otherwise my kids would spend the entire day behind it...

Nintendo is really watching out for those soccermoms, they know their target audience...
