Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Which Wii U games are going to bomb?

Every third party game except for Just Dance. Mass Effect 3 and Zombie U will especially bomb hard, probably even the point both EA and Ubisoft pull the plug on the Wii U altogether (except for the inevitable Just Dance 5, 6, 7, ...39). Call of Duty might do ok-ish.

Your optimism is astounding.

I have absolutely no reason to be optimistic about anything Wii-U wise.

If Zombi U is a good game it will do well. So will BLOPS2.

Sonic Racing, Epic Mickey 2, will as well. FIFA, Scribblenauts, and Assassin's Creed 3 will do OK.

Mass Effect 3, Tekken Tag, Ninja Gaiden 3, Batman: Arkham City (too expensive), etc. will not do so great. I think top sellers will basically go ...

1. New Super Mario Bros. U

2. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

3. Zombi U

4. Nintendo Land (many will get it bundled rather than seperately)

5. Sonic All-Stars Racing 2

6. Epic Mickey 2

7. Assassin's Creed 3

8. Scribblenauts

Will be the top sellers.

Mass Effect 3 will probably bomb hard. Then EA will go "hurrdurr our gaemz don't sell on Niitendo conzole, we outa here". And I will be like

and pick up ME3 for Wii U in 6 months from the bargain bin.

Unless you want to slog through the first game which I don't think is worth that effort... you really should be OK with just getting Mass Effect 3 with the pre-quel story/choices covered via comic. I personally think that is a good feature even if you have already played first two games on same console because now you don't have to slog through the prior games making different choices just to have a different starting point for ME-3.

While I didnt enjoy all the lame gameplay and loading screens and dialog tree minutia of the first game... I did think ME-2 was much more worth playing. It was like the difference between Assassin's Creed first game and Assassin's Creed II. If you have played both of those, would you recommend the 1st game to anyone or would you advise them to skip the first and just enjoy the second game starting with Ezio story. Now extend that out to AC-3 being available... and coming to Wii U without AC-1 or AC-2 coming to Wii U.

What exactly is wrong with what EA has done bringing just ME-3 to Wii U? Is it that ME1-ME2-ME3 collection became available for X360? Well those games were already made and working for X360. What about PS3 finally getting ME-1? Well that isn't out yet and wont be until December... because it takes work. So why are ME-1 and ME-2 not for Wii U yet? Well that also will take time... and they got their hands full just trying to get ME-3 ported over successfully for launch including the damn online mode.

I dislike EA on many things, but picking on them on ME-3 is not fair in my view.

I think Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will do surprisingly well on Wii U. I think Batman Arkham Asylum and City proved itself as an evergreen title on the other consoles and there is no reason it wont have long legs in sales for Wii U.

Games that I think will bomb and would be shame are things like Darksiders 2

Games that I think will bomb because they just don't belong in the $50 software catalog are things like Tank! Tank! Tank!

That is really good prediction of sales I think... but due to pack-in I think Nintendo Land will be top ranking. I also think ZombiU will sell better than Black Ops 2. The rest I think you will stand correct once the dust settles.

Batman will bomb because it was such a long seller on the PS3/360, meaning a lot of people who would be interested in it, already bought it. It doesn't help you can find it fairly easily for $20-$30 these days on those systems too.

I dunno, maybe Tekken Tag Tourney 2 can do OK, but in general I think the 3D fighting game genre is a tough sell anymore when it doesn't have the nostaglia appeal of Street Fighter tied to it. Darksiders 2 will probably bomb, not that it really impacts THQ much now.

I'm fairly comfortable in saying BLOPS2 outsells Zombi U this Christmas at least.

Call of Duty is the biggest gaming brand in the world, even on the Wii with the downports it got, those sold pretty well.

Zombi U may have longer legs though.

The Mass Effect and Assassins Creed series are not really comparable like that. The ME games are much more intertwined. I haven't played any AC yet but I feel like I don't even need to look up the previous story to enjoy the third game. Mass Effect on the other hand revolves around the decisions you make. Without this part it's a half decent wannabe RPG with mediocre combat.

But I'm not hating on EA because they release the complete Trilogy parallel to this game. I have played ME1 and 2 and I wouldn't want to play through them again just to pick up my story. The comic solution fits me pretty well. What rubs me the wrong way is that the game is apparently a technical mess AND costs basically the same as the whole trilogy on the other consoles. 30 - 40 bucks and a decent port and EA could gladly have my money for this game.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.
