In all seriousness, that's the mindset that's really killing the anime industry right now. Put more and more focus on the otaku (so that you can make mad merchandising money), and then the market shrinks behind you.

I can believe that. I can't think of any industry where it's worked long-term, but that's what many folks in the industry are loudly pushing for.

That's just going to mean,that game companies are all going to stick with games that have a built in fanbase and won't do anything new,due to the risk involved.
