Whoa! Wait a sec! They give you 3-4 pages before the trolls start in on the Nintendo threads??? An Xbox thread doesn't even get 1 page, let alone 2 posts, before the trolls start in.

Grossly unfair.

3-4 posts, not pages.

The only thing the forum needs is the fostering of higher standards of discourse, something that can't entirely be done through moderation because nobody's going to discuss anything if everyone is banned.

We can't just live in a delusional opinion vacuum where only right ideas are tolerated, but at the same time these drive-by negative posts should not be tolerated either. If you have something to say, back it up. This really goes for positive posts too, except nobody really gets riled up by "omg this game is so awesome." Context and understanding are important, and if you aren't going to really contribute to a discussion, to one side or another, you shouldn't be saying anything.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

yeah I've been doing my best to ignore the trolls and others should do the same

It sure sounds like that.

Maybe they could set up a system where people who have a history of going off topic or trolling in certain forums could get banned only in that forum. It would be nice to get back to the quality of the 2007 -2008 period. I use to just lurk because I had nothing intelligent to say. Now I fit right in.

What quality from 2007-2008 are you referring to? Wii outselling PS360 x 4 during the holiday season?...yea those threads were awesome...

I rarely go in the XBox forums but did the other day to see how people were enjoying Halo 4. A fan of a different company came in and started arguing about the graphics while freely admitting he had never played the game. Someone else showed up and started spouting off about how the console of their choice had been producing the same level of graphics since 2009.

No, as I interpeted it, Nintendo fans should avoid derailing Nintendo threads (and all threads in general) by not feeding unnecessary comments. Unnecessary doesn't mean only praise, just that you back up your claim.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

I contributed to the launch titles thread, we should all do things like that on a thread that goes bad, just post quality stuff and see where it goes.

There seemed to be a much larger focus on sales diccusions in those days. The fact that an underpowered console with a new controller took off beyond the majority of peoples expectations and pretty much all the professional analysts got it wrong at the time led to some very interesting discussions. there also seemed to be many more users who could debate intelligently at the time.

Whether you are a fan of nintendo or not, you can't deny that on a sales oriented videogame site, the wii's original sucess contributed to making the start of the generation much more interesting than if the PS3 had just dominated the console side of the industry again.
