Many tech experts and most people with devices in range of a port. A wired connection is faster and more reliable. It's not a big deal for me, but I can imagine it pissing off quite a few tech heads.

Just like the Wii.

I'd love to know about this ISP which provides a >600Mbps internet connection

Wired connection offers the least amount of lag.

Wi-Fi connections are always spotty.

I would consider this move as a stupid one by nintendo.

you do know that the Wii also didn't have an ethernet port?

Didn't matter for the Wii since its online services were sub-par.

Both Microsoft and Sony offer Ethernet connections to their consoles because wired > wireless EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Wired > wifi. Wifi is too slow for my connection and the latency is at least 20ms higher than on wired connection. I would not play any online game on wifi.

Wii and Wii U offer ethernet connections, look a few posts above you. You can even use your Wii adapter if you have already bought it.

360 didn't have wifi in the beginning and you had to buy an add-on to play with wifi. I remember a lot of people getting pissed by it, myself included, but hey I just bought the add-on and I start playing some multiplayer....until I got the RRoD :(
