Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony shrinks European marketing team from ten to one

seems like a bad decision to me

Sony should be cutting the fat where it's abundant (Japan) and for political and cultural reasons they keep downsizing elsewhere

Around the Network

As long as they have the Champions League commercials they should be fine.

So possible pros and cons for this move maybe?

Pros:

Save money, less assets, less employees
Streamlined marketing delivery, centralized
Less confusion between teams

Cons:

Less tailoring potential per region
Possibly less marketing

Anything to add?

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

This is true.

It's been speculated, that if Sony should really fall under hard times, the Japanese government is likely to bail them out, GM STYLE, because they carry alot of Japanese employment.

Less confusion between teams?  There were 10 people before, how would they have teams of people working on the same project when they're marketing???

If there was confusion between "teams" then there would be a very serious problem with the way Sony works altogether.

There is always confusion and miscommunication. This problem is ever present. Things aren't black and white. Having 1 team intead of 10 teams should reduce that.

I not sure what you mean by your second question, and it isn't 10 people, it is 10 companies.

the headline is misleading tbh...I thought they went from 10 ppl to 1 person lol it wouldn't have made any sense

but centralizing your marketing efforts under one big company? Smart. Especially given some of the marketing done in the region in recent times

Why in the world who you contract different companies? While, I guess they won't be able to be as specialized, I don't think it's a bad thing.
