Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do some people get mad when a game goes multiplat? Or they took my games!

Since this gen is coming to a close, i was pondering something that confused for some time.  It seems some people get really mad when a game that was exclusive or announced as such goes multi.

FF13, people did not like when that was going to 360, some are still mad.

Dead Space extraction, for a game that alot of people hated, they were even more mad when it went to PS3, strange

Goldeneye, HoTD, Mass Effect all to varying degrees of hostility? (ME being pretty low) but why? What is the threat, it be one thing if the game was cancelled for whatever system one would have but that is rarely the case.

I guess the main reason to argue is the sacrifice of optimization on a platform. That and fanboyism.

Why get mad at all? Let's just put mario on the 360 or PS3.

People get mad because it was supposed to be exclusive. You think. Was happy when the HD twins got a better version of goldeneye? Hell no. It makes you happy, especially as a nintendo only gamer, to have a game others want.

But why?? You're not answering the query. Why get mad at all? Why be mad that GE went to HDs a whole year later? Did it kill your enjoyment of the game?? Those guys still had to wait. If anything thats good cause that means their will be a bigger audience and more people will get to play a good game and that means the potential for followups will be higher.

And obviously im not referring to 1st party games thats just common sense.

When a game goes multiplatform, the game tends to go more casual. This generation most of the exclusives franchies I have played in the past went multiplatform and the quality has been way down. (That could just also be series fatigue)

Fear of compromises made to make it run on multiple systems.
I don't think FF13 was compromised on the ps3, maybe delayed a bit to wait for the 360 port. But where did all the lovely 1080p prerendered CGI go for FF13-2.

Another reason could be that you've already paid maximum price for a game, and now it comes a year later to another console with all the bug fixes, dlc, and other extras included promoted as the definite version.

can you give some examples? Because outside of FF13, which was already on its path before they ever started porting i cant think of any.

That also doesnt really explain your games like Deadspace extraction which was already well released on a system prior to going to another one

more modes, more online content, i think the maps were bigger. PS3 version has Move support.

Nothing^ although I think there were a few more options...

Because it just makes me a little angry. Probably because Nintendo systems already get little when it comes to 3rd parties. I want exclusives from time to time Man!

Wii has more exclusives than PS3 or 360 now whether you care about those or whether those exclusives or worth a damn is up to you and the beholder

I can see how that would upset some people, but dont you think that having played the game a whole year or more than the others is a fair trade?
