I think people are underestimating both PS All Stars and NSMBU. The critics tend to like Smash Bros, and if PS All Stars really is as good (in terms of the fundamentals) as those in the Beta are claiming, it should be an upper 80s title handily, held back from matching Smash Bros' scores merely for the fact that it's a new IP. As for NSMBU, Metacritic has the Wii game at 87, and i think the Wii U version is taking more strides to go above and beyond (the map screen is more dynamic and the art style seems better-quality, more variety with Yoshis, etc).

It looks like one of those arty downloadable games that critics love. I could be wrong though.

I wouldn't say so. Critics seem to like it when Nintendo-esque games appear on non-Nintendo platforms (look at Rayman's score), so i'm figuring the similarity will be an upward modifier, as long as the core gameplay itself is received well.
