Oh, total fanboy moment here:

The only good thing Microsoft brought to the table is the system-wide achievement system. Love that, it's like levelups for the real you!

I like Sony's slightly better...but it does seem a little weird that you require soooooo much to get past level 12.

It's because 12 is the best number in the world!

while I certainly do agree it's a fantastic number, being mathematically interesting just doesn't compare to being the answer to life's great question

I'm a large Square Enix fanboy.

I used to be a huge, HUGE Square fanboy, then they merged with enix and released Final Fantasy XII...which was their last great game.  then they made XIII and now I want them gone, unless they can make vXIII awesome, as well as XV.  I fully expect XIII-3 to suck.

Also used to be a huge capcom fanboy.  Megaman, Megaman X, Megaman Zero, Resident Evil (4), the Devil May Cry series, Viewtiful Joe...I loved what they were doing.  Now they suck ass and are one of the worst companies in the business.  it's amazing what greed can do to people.

Really don't want to get into this argument as I don't like circles, but my love for Square hasn't diminished and has probably increased with time. Still love FF4, 9, 10, etc, but doesn't change that I still really love 12, 13, Nier, and a few other things they've brought to me.

Well I'm just palying Final Fantasy V for the first time now, and I absolutely adore it.  I still love their old stuff, and even some of their new stuff s great, but they've really dropped the ball this gen.  XIII sucked, they put out XIII-2 before Vs, Kingdom Hearts III  is nowhere to be seen, they had a great game with The World Ends with You and apparently haven't done shit with it (though they are rumored to be making a sequel).  They are completely disconnected with the fans.

In a sense, there is some disconnect, but I also feel they have tried and jumped through every hoop to please and communicate with fans. Look at FF14. Never before have I seen a large company rescind fees that the player agreed to, because the experience wasn't what they hoped.

Fast forward to now, they've taken player feedback and are essentially re-launching the game. That's clearly a company who cares about their fans.

But that's the thing, nobody cares about XIV, if they did the game probably would have sold well regardless of its atrocious launch.  to make matters worse, they actually pooled their resources from other teams to 'fix' final fantasy XIV in spite of the fact it's already ruined.  Even if they make it the best MMO ever, that doesn't change the fact that they're taking resources from other, more popular ideas (vsXIII, Kingdom Hearts 3, FFXV) or completely ignoring projects that fans are BEGGING for (FFVII remake, The World Ends with you 2) in spite of how relatively cheap they'd be to produce compared to the inevitable sales.

They're entirely disconnected.  It's almost like they're actively avoiding all the things the fans want in lieu of whatever bullshit scheme they're concocting.  "Oh, the fans want a remake of FFVII?" "Meh, they don't know what they want, let's pump out another sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, you know, that game that got the lowest scores of the franchise and has garnered all sorts of hate and only a few white knights."
