Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Darksiders 2 studio hits out at "derogatory", "frustrating" Zelda comparisons

Guys it's fine if it looks a bit God of Warish or Zeldaish, the developers of Zelda and GOW should take it as a compliment that the gameplay and mechanics of Darksiders takes note off their games.

Its already been said, but i'll say it again, its clear that lilbroex has never played Darksiders and he is EXACTLY the type of crazed person that Mr. Dalton is talking about. If you didnt play the game dont comment on it, regardless of what the media says.

And you would be wrong. I have played it. Its resemblance to Twilight Princess was onimpresent. It was pretty much a mature version of it.

I'm not the topic of this thread though.

Really?? You thought it was like TP?? Okay.

The differences between Darkstalker and Twlight Princess are like the difference between the Wiimote and Move.

Of course Darkstalkers had its things that made it unique just like Move, but you can tell where the idea originated.

I haven't finished the first Darksiders as my boyfriend's PS3 is in another state...
But what I did play was pretty cool...
It has some breathtaking moments...
Not my favorite game ever, but I probably shouldn't say such a thing until I finish the game...
At no point while playing it was I reminded of Zelda...
And I've played a lot of Zelda...

Have a nice day...

Oh I see what's going on here

It's more like comparing pizza and lasagna.  They both have tomato sauce and cheese but that's about it.  I'm sorry but after beating Darksiders I never thought of Twilight Princess and I beat them half a year apart form each other.

I just remembered that Ratchet and Clank had puzzles so Darksiders copied them as well.

the fact that you are calling it Darkstalkers (which is a fighting game) and not Darksiders lead me to believe that you didnt even play the game.  And as was stated before the combat mechanics alone are vastly different that Zelda, but whatever

I fell in love with Darksiders and from what I've read about the new one it is going to be awesome. I love WRPG's and from what I've read they are expanding the RPG elements which has me drooling and making it more open world is just icing on the cake. This and Borderlands 2 will keep me busy for awhile.

Darksiders II is not a carbon copy. Does it feature gameplay similar to Zelda and God of War? Yes. Does it feature gameplay that isn't from those games? Even more yes.
