Because there's no way to change the country of your PSN account. That sucks for someone like me, who moves to another country.
I lived in the UK for 7 years, and now I'm moving to Japan. I'm in Spain for a few months. And now I can't purchase anything from PSN with my Spanish or Japanese credit cards. Even the PSN cards have to be British. I called Sony and there's nothing at all to do other than importing UK PSN cards and some games (for DLC compatibility). I was telling the guy if Sony doesn't want my money or what, I was about to buy a PSP game with my credit card (valid anywhere in the world otherwise).
Yes, when you open the account it tells you that there's no way of changing it, but in some people's case there's nothing to do because you have the credit card and permanent address in a country for many years.
I get that there are some reasons like not getting games from other stores or whatever, but there should be SOME way to change the country, at least by special request. Or at least being able to create a new account and transferring the information from the last one. I'll bring a proof of address personally. I'll pay as much as necessary for the service of changing my countries. I'll do paperwork for as long as necessary. I'll be Kaz Hirai's geisha for a year. I'll sacrifice 32 chickens, 7 goats and 2 virgins. ANYTHING, there should be a way (no matter how complicated, long and secure) to demonstrate that I actually moved countries and change my info.
Oh well, I'm starting to get used to the idea that I have to get UK PSN card codes online (now I need to open a new PayPal account because my old one also won't let me change the country for the billing address, seriously, is this standard procedure??) and import some games (because the DLC and the game must be from the same country in some cases...) because I'm not starting a new account from zero and losing all my games, trophies, friend list...
I know I'm in a minority and that this doesn't affect many people, but in this day and age this seems backwards to me.
