Forums - Sony - I'm annoyed with Sony

Because there's no way to change the country of your PSN account. That sucks for someone like me, who moves to another country.

I lived in the UK for 7 years, and now I'm moving to Japan. I'm in Spain for a few months. And now I can't purchase anything from PSN with my Spanish or Japanese credit cards. Even the PSN cards have to be British. I called Sony and there's nothing at all to do other than importing UK PSN cards and some games (for DLC compatibility). I was telling the guy if Sony doesn't want my money or what, I was about to buy a PSP game with my credit card (valid anywhere in the world otherwise).

Yes, when you open the account it tells you that there's no way of changing it, but in some people's case there's nothing to do because you have the credit card and permanent address in a country for many years.

I get that there are some reasons like not getting games from other stores or whatever, but there should be SOME way to change the country, at least by special request. Or at least being able to create a new account and transferring the information from the last one. I'll bring a proof of address personally. I'll pay as much as necessary for the service of changing my countries. I'll do paperwork for as long as necessary. I'll be Kaz Hirai's geisha for a year. I'll sacrifice 32 chickens, 7 goats and 2 virgins. ANYTHING, there should be a way (no matter how complicated, long and secure) to demonstrate that I actually moved countries and change my info.

Oh well, I'm starting to get used to the idea that I have to get UK PSN card codes online (now I need to open a new PayPal account because my old one also won't let me change the country for the billing address, seriously, is this standard procedure??) and import some games (because the DLC and the game must be from the same country in some cases...) because I'm not starting a new account from zero and losing all my games, trophies, friend list...

I know I'm in a minority and that this doesn't affect many people, but in this day and age this seems backwards to me.

You could create a JP account...?

I know it's not much but you can buy from the JP store...?

Shopto have instant codes you can buy - they'll send you the code online rather than waiting for delivery - and they're usually £1-2 less than the card gives you. You should try them.

Also, just make a JP account.

This would be extremely annoying for two reasons:

1.- I lose ALL my games, trophies and friends in my UK account.

2.- The Vita only allows one account per console (FU Sony) and it's already tied to my UK account, and I'm not resetting the console every time I want to switch accounts.

I know, that's what I'll have to do now...

Bolded: see above.

Did you call up Sony to see if there is anything that can be done? Maybe they can do something from their end.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Weird, even though you are not in UK, you should be able to still use your UK credit card while being anywhere in the world, unless you cancelled it before traveling ¬_¬

Yes I did. They insisted they don't want my money.

I can use my British credit card, yes. But as I'm not living in the UK I'm gonna close the account because this account doesn't get any income anymore and I'm not doing international transfers (with high fees) just to pay for my PSN stuff. I gotta get UK PSN card codes online from now on...

At least I should be able to use other credit cards (from Spain or Japan) with my UK account, it's Visa dammit, they'll take it anywhere!

for your ps3 account, you can buy ps3 games on your jp account and play them freely on your uk account.

your vita on the other hand...I can't help x_x
