What is the deal with japan? Why can't we ever get more than a few reviews when dealing with japan released games?

It is an odd thing indeed, because the magazine scene is alive and thriving in Japan, such that there should certainly be more well-recognized gaming mags with strong readership than just Famitsu.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

A lot of it comes down to just how dominant Famitsu is, though. It's like here in the UK we only really have Empire for films, because it's so big any other publisher doesn't really have a chance...

Anyway, it launches on Friday, right? So user reviews should be flooding in soon!

I just do not understand why, lets say after a week or so we cannot get a dozen of so reviews for games that are big in Japan. I do not know about over there, but here in America we have things like gamepro, gamespot, ign, giantbomb, gamrreview, etc. I do not really care how trustworthy it is or if it is online or what. That is what surprises me. It would just be nice to see something other than Famitsu. Lets get some hype going for these games so that they will come to the states or Europe faster.

What do you think the sales will be Conegamer?

Based off what I see below it will not do too great over time on the 3DS, but if recent sales patterns continue it should push out around 200,000 copies first week in Japan. Games are just selling well now over there, IMO.

Looking at those sales, the first thing I can say is that the RD figure is wrong. No way it only sold 10k in Europe. 100k, is too low.

However, FW in Japan could be anywhere from 150 to 200k, maybe a bit more. Should boost 3DS sales too 90-100k for the week as well.

So unlike Kingdom hearts, it should be in the middle, sales wise for handhelds when it is done selling in Japan.

We cannot forget that these games out now still have 5 years to sell or until they get discontinued. As we saw with twilight princess, even small sales eventually build up week after week over ling periods of time.

True. A lot of Ninty games do this, though.

I'd like to see it do really well. Because it seems pretty awesome, and more Fire Emblem sales means more DLC which means more games!

Not bad, but that's pretty much all stuff we already knew.

However, more and more details are starting to trickle in, like Marth in this game is a time-traveller and a girl...I'll believe it when I play it thanks

I seriously doubt 200,000 first week.

Keep in mind that the last time a Fire Emblem game opened with 200,000 or more was with Fire Emblem 4. The past two ones opened with 140,000 each.  Additionally, Ocarina of Time 3DS opened with 166,000 over there, and it would seriously surprise me if Fire Emblem saw a higher first week than Zelda.

*JOY*

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Yes, sales in the 150k range seem more likely.

And the OoT thing is no comparison. The install base was much lower. Infact, if the fraction was to be converted so that it launched tomorrow, it'd sell 1.7mil in Japan FW.

Good... good.... now we just need some of these Japanese games to come to America and my plan for 3DS Domination would be absolute! Get the ball rolling Nintendo and third parties!

i think 200k is very likely
