Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So Jim Sterling reviews Kid Icarus

I don't see how anyone could take Sterling seriously...he always goes against the grain. As an experiment, I checked out 15 random reviews of his, and like 12 of them he was the lowest score or near to it, complaining about things nobody else complained about.

I can appreciate going against the grain (see: my Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 reviews), but there comes a time when it's no longer a respectable effort to showcase an alternate viewpoint and starts being for the lulz. Sterling has mentioned time and time again he does it for the lulz, so it's time to move on.

It's obvious. It's also obvious that everyone who works there hates Nintendo.

Probably made some of them lose a year of their life due to stress during the last Smash Bros. midnight release.  Sometimes I can see them cringe when I bring up any future Nintendo release.  There is one semi genuine employee at one of my local Gamestop that doesn't seem to put a fake smile on for me.  I hardly go though and usually get most of my games (usually new but older generations used) from Amazon.  The best thing about Amazon is that usually no one can fuck with their new and used prices on video game prices.

You should see the people at my store! Ahhh, they think they are too clever. I also get that cringe, it's quite hilarious. I've once mentioned while my brother was buying MW3 that "I don't by crap games like that, quality is what I buy. Nintendo is what I buy." (Obviously I didn't mean MW3 was total crap it was more of an experiment.) I got a stare and then a cringe and then he ignored me. Needless to say my experiment had worked!

Reminds me of when I was chillen with one of my friends today.  He was talking about playing BF3 and the destructible environments.  I already knew about this from previous iterations but I believe the destruction has increased.  I was going on about instead of just having them partially collapse that it would be neat if after awhile when the buildings integrity was totally lost that the entire building would just fall.  I then was like why do people even play COD even more.  I understand that there is a preference but it is pretty obvious if you want to play a more "realistic" FPS than BF trumps COD easy.  Both games still aren't even that realistic (COD having hardcore mode is a start but only having windows and a few other things allowed to be destroyed in the environment isn't realistic).  Calling COD a realistic FPS would be like calling Need For Speed a driving simulation.

I don't need an Uprising review in order to get Uprising, because I'm already fully convinced that it's the most promising intensive game for the 3DS to date. I don't care about the control scheme either. I'm way too used to Metroid Prime: Hunters to miss out on this awesome game.

This thread needs more Sterling hate! That was the whole point of this thread after all..

After what he did to FFXIII.. *shakes fist*

It helps to add that, I 100% disagreed with this Mario Kart 7 review. He gave Modern Warfare 3, a 9.5 . Yet he insults Mario Kart 7 for being more of the same. If anything, MK7 added more to the Mario Kart series than MW3 added to COD series. He lacks any intelligence, and has blind hate for nearly anything Nintendo. He gave MK7 a five too. In my experience with the game I'd give it a 8 or 9/10. It's an enjoyable game, and the fact it offers download play allows you to play the game with friends who haven't purchased it yet. Much work goes into the map designs/modeling and Sterling doesn't want to admit that. So his 5 for Kid Icarus was probably just another bull crapped, rushed review. I doubt he even tried to play it. That being said, anyone who actually follows reviews 100% without doing their own research is a blind sheep. There is no completely "wrong" or "right reviews" Some people have their own taste I suppose. Irregardless of that, Sterling tends to take a bias approach.

Why would or should Nintendo fans care about Jim Sterling giving too high of a score to Final Fantasy XIII?

Seems like a solid mid, low-8 to me, not having played it. Should be a fun action romp but i'm not expecting anything spectacular myself

Oh well. Kirby Super Star Ultra and Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones both come first.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
