The bold part is a good point... PS3 now is selling 20k per week over Wii... can it surpass Wii in Japan???
|
No chance. The market for Wii has always been bigger than for the PS3, so market saturation sets in earlier for the latter. Also the WiiU will take away most the sales from the PS3, as it will have Nintendo key software at better gaphics (presumably) going into holidays.

I thought it was assumed that Sony is taking a loss on every system sold; that's why people say that Sony can't cut the price yet...
|
Taking a loss on every system sold, sure... But with the expensive memory cards that you HAVE to use? These "loss" became a lot low.
|
Is the economy really that bad that people can't afford a $20 memory card?
The Vita isn't an iPhone. Games aren't megabytes in size. Games are 2-4 gigs. Digital Distribution was never meant to be the main form of getting your games.
|
Escape plan size - 800Mb and its one of the first PSN games on Vita... Do you think that someone can stay like 1 year with a 4Gb memory card? Ok, for those who will not download games, 4Gb is more than enough, and download games isnt the "main" thing in the market, i know that. What i want to say is that a lot of people bought the 18~32Gb card, and this make the Sony "loss" on every system sold dont hurt too much. And yes, i think these cards are expensive, especially in my country, US$ 35 for 4Gb card if we import, US$ 55 if we buy on the gray market. They dont sell it oficially here, only with the bundle, wich cost almost US$ 900.

If someone is planning on buying a lot of PSN games they wouldn't buy a 4gig card....
If someone is planning on buying a lot of PSN games, they can probably afford a bigger card....
You think these people who bought these 16-32gig memory cards make up for Vita losses and/or R&D? I can tell you now, they don't.

I think its way to early to tell how good the Wii U will sell. We dont know what games realease during Christmas, we dont have a price, we dont see how much the graphics will improved over PS3 and X Box 360.
And still one fact. Internet hype is not real hype. We saw that with the 3ds ( atleast in the first year) and we saw that with the PS Vita.
And also Microsoft and Sony have the oppoturnity to anounce a X Box 720 or PS4 this year. I dont really think they will give Nintendo a full year head start.

People talked too early about XB360 dominating, then about it being d0m3d, talked too early about PS3 being going to rule (*), then being d0m3d, about Wii being d0m3d (*), then being unbeatable and disrupting and d0m1ng competitors, and finally about 3DS being d0m3d too.
And now, guess what? PSV is d0m3d!!!
(*) these both even before being launched.
