what arguement.  nintendo copied apple and that's a fact.

In what way, the color white?

Microsoft are experimenting with a tablet-like controller with a shape closer to Sony's sleek Vita handheld / Apple's iPad than WiiU's bulky unit - it's an HD screen surrounded by the traditional 360 buttons and sticks.

My favorite part... just goes to show mediatic bias and lack of integrity.

The Wii U controller is in no way bulky. Next, if the 360 controller is as small as the Vita, then it promises claw-grip. Next again, the Vita doesn't look anything like an iPad for anything other than a glossy screen and it color: black. Here is what the WiiU controller looks like from the front and back.

..

And here the Vita. I don't see it proportionally thinner than the Wii U controller given front surface:

..

And now the numbers

Wii U

h 7"  w 10.5"  d 1.8"

face vs depth ratio: 40.83

Vita

h 3.289"  w 7.2" d 0.73"

face vs depth ratio: 32.44

Vita's is smaller, but then again it's unclear whether the number I got subtracted the back wing for the sholder buttons, which should not be counted in the depth numbers when it comes to "bulkiness".

wiiU: 7 x 10.5 x 1.8 = 132.3 sq inches

vita: 3.3 x 7.2 x .73 = 17.35 sq inches

those are your numbers btw...i can't be bothered to look anything up but the wiiU remote is clearly a lot bigger.  132.3/17.35 = 7.6:1

for a controller that doesn't leave your house the wiiU remote is fine but if MS is actually going to have a tablet that people can take with them on the run like people do with the ipad ... the wiiU remote is too bulky for that purpose and MS would be smart to slim the design demensions down.

To be honest we don't know who thought of the idea first, only who announced it first.

Umm, the Vita is smaller. You have to go by proportions kitler. Plus, those are cubic inches, and such buggers grow very fast if you're unfamiliar with volume measurements.

Bottom line, my numbers were much more powerful to express bulkiness (surface versus width), so use them instead. 40/32 = 1.25. Only 25% thicker, and we're not sure if that includes the trigger handle (which doesn't count in bulkiness and greatly enhances ergonomics).

sure, we can say they copied palm, or hell, even the dream cast.

when elitest nintendo fans are throwing then nintendo is the only innovative company elitism my way they always start by saying "nintendo was first to market" and when that can be disproven they fall back on "first to market mass sucess".  ipad is a tablet controller that plays game and interacts with tvs in the exact same way as the wiiU, can to market sooner and is massively successful.  i don't care what the rules are but keep them consistent.  nintendo clearly copied apple.

Who came up with this idea that tablets are better as controllers for consoles than regular controllers. Forgot all the arcade games like Bejewelled etc, how is anyone supposed to play Halo, Gears, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid, Call of Duty, Battlefield or Mass Effect with a touchscreen? Maybe I'll be proved wrong but I can't see if working for the major console franchises. I'll always take a controller with real buttons.

You still haven't answered my question ... In what way has Nintendo copied Apple?

On November 21, 2004 Nintendo released the Nintendo DS which was a 2 screen (1 touch screen) gaming system with a variety of conventional controls; and on June 29, 2007 Apple released the iPhone which was a device based entirely around a touch screen.  The Wii U is a 2 screen (1 touch screen) gaming system with a variety of conventional controls, which makes it far more in line with what Nintendo has been doing for 8 years than what Apple has been doing for 5.

I wonder if this is true. If both Microsoft and Nintendo drop classic controllers, i wonder if that will give Sony the diferentiation they need. That would be funny indeed.

no actually, my numbers make more sense.  i'm am quite familure with the cubic nature of measuring volume.  ignoring the other two dimensions is only a valid arguement when you want falsify circumstances.   by your meaurements, a wiiU controller that the size of my 40" LCD tv would be less bulky then the vita as the surface to depth ratio is technically less.   are you prepared to say that really stupid statement?
