I guess Vita needs some killer software in Japan... one like Monter Hunter like 3DS.

Vita isnt getting a 40% price cut AND it isnt getting a game that can do what those two can...

If Sony has any sense left they'll get a Monster Hunter out for Vita this holiday season.

Sony already said MH for Vita is comming in next months.

Yeah, but that monster hunter it's a port of a port, so while it should have nice sales and boost a little Vita sales I really doubt it would be a system seller.

Seriously, can anyone think of a killer app for the Vita other than Monster Hunter?

*Looks at how only Monster Hunter games have broken a million sales on the PSP in Japan*

Oh... never mind.

Yeah, I don't see what the Vita has going for it. Even if it also gets Monster Hunter 4, are people willing to buy a new system solely for the same game they can get on a cheaper system in HD? At this point, the best games I think will really help the Vita are PS2 games like FFX and the MGS collection.

Relative to the PSP launch it is really struggling.

PSP sold 50,000 in the same week in 2005 with total sales of 780k, having launched on Dec 12 2004 and the sales per week didn't drop below 40k until April by which time it stood at 1.1m

Vita sold 17,000 this week with total sales of 545k, be lucky if it reaches 750k by April (barring some big release I am unaware of), so it is tracking way below the PSP in Japan.

All the while the 3DS is cleaning up and tracking above DS sales.


That's the reason for the Vita sales. 3DS is already the new must-have handheld from the legendary Nintendo. 
These sales are ok considering 3DS has a Monster Hunter title.

Once sales are below 10k , then we should start worrying.

correct...in a dead time of year and with total sales by that time of 900k... almost twice the Vita.  Those sales were seen as terrible leading to  aprice cut...

now the vita is doing even worse... so what does that mean to you?


Yes, terrible FOR A NINTENDO HANDHELD.

This is a Sony handheld.  Expectations aren't as high.

In Japan, Portables > Consoles
