Nintendo didn't do too bad, they made a profit last Q. Expected a lot worse than they did, could be the same for Sony

Wasn't the loss on sale (Television department related) this quarter?

This or next week too but I don't care .

There are going to be charges which are going to effect earnings (1 billion dollars for the TV venture with Samsung) those will be factored out. Overall I think this is going to be a pretty terrible quarter broken down by the following:

Sony Music -- Music digital sales were up this year so Sony may benefit a little
Sony Picutres -- No real blockbusters by any of the sony studios
TV Syndication -- Still pretty strong
TV -- abysmal
Ericsson joint venture -- abysmal
Viao -- no real upgrade cycle until at least windows 8 so might be marginal at best
Sony Computer Entertainment -- Pretty decent, smartest thing Sony did was not to give an estimate on vita sales.

quarter should be profitable since its holiday driven but strong yen will eat into that

ethomaz why is the title ETA 6 hours? It's ETA 6 hours now but not when you made the thread?

He's updating it... which just adds confusion in my opinion.

Train wreck said it all... you don't even need to read his post.

So, could someone expert on economics speculate on what Sony could do to return to profitability? Split the company? Shut down some sectors and cancel their R&Ds? Or maybe that's all too drastic and they were in the right way but had a bad year due to earthquake etc.?
