i very rarely buy used games so this wont bother me if i one day even buy the next box which i don't think i will

do you sell your used games? then this would hit you. like i said yesterday it wouldn't hit me much as well because i buy all my games new nad rarely sell my used games which is stupid but i don't most times. that's why i have like 70 xbox 360 games here in my house lol!!! i could have sold most games for 25-40€ after playing them. i shouldn't think about the sums haha

but it know i'm really an exception and the time will come i will sell my 360 and at least then i will earn a little bit for my 70 games.

I’ve only traded in two games in my life and never sold a console. I like to keep stuff like that as they have a special place in my heart/memories.

I see no problem if Microsoft does this.

Is that because you are hoping that the neo geo pocket will make a comback?

He's delusional. Neo geo pocket will never make a comeback.

If Microsoft did that I wouldn't buy their system on principle alone ...

there is no way in hell i am going to buy their system. can you believe what they are trying to pull? i always knew they were no good for the industry, they dont do anything but leech. in a way, i am glad they are doing this.

for me, its going to be no problem, because i am just going to stick with nintendo, so i am not going to have to deal with any of this crap. but for anyone else.. boy, are they going to have to learn the hard way. lol.

with any luck, this will put microsoft out of the industry for good. this is just plain evil.

Well there is the 3rd home console curse (Atari 5200, Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64, Sony PlayStation 3, etc.).

It is just Microsoft's turn to harm themselves. If Xbox^3 can't play used games then it would harm them severely; consumers would jump ship to the competition at an unprecedented speed (Since all game prices would be glaringly high without competition of a second hand market on the platform).

This seems unlikely unless Microsoft also:

1. Goes digital distribution.

2. Reduces the MSRP of new games to $40

Otherwise, I think MS would lose the generation.

Not sure if serious.

This a rumour, generated by a site that seems to do that a lot lately and has been pretty inconsistent in their next-gen rumours.

I suggest to be more subtle next time, because you really are showing your true colours with that post, again, based a stupid rumour.

I shake my head in disbelief at how ridiculously silly that post was.

im being like 80% serious.

i dont see whats so bad about it. what are we as gamers really losing if microsoft exits? i dont see what the problem is.

this may be a rumor, but it is not surprising at first glance. and that speaks  volumes for what kind of company microsoft is. if this rumor were about sony/nintendo, for instance, i would be a little taken back, and i would look more into it. but since its microsoft, its kind of expected. get it?

believe me, i have thought about that! hopefully microsoft will not escape that curse! really though, its theirs to lose. they have a lot going for them right now. but so did sony and nintendo, and look how that turned out lol.

In my opinion it will happen next gen or the one after. Digital distribution is the big thing right now. What will most likely happen is within the next two console generations they will start going more and more digital with no more physical games.

If they do decide to go digital then that would ruin the ability to "barrow" friends games. I heavily dislike digital distribution because of this. Me and my friend don't play games online so we just buy games both of us like so we can play more games. This would ruin the ability and would heavily make it more difficult for me to play many games.

If full digital distribution happen I would hope that a general price drop would happen on games since there is no longer a factory line to create the games, but that probably wont happen since people get greedy.

I doubt it is true. If they did decide to go that route it would be the dumbest decision they could ever make.

Implementing such a system would kill game sales. Knowing that your game has no value after purchase, most gamers would limit themselves to one game a year (example COD) instead of taking chances with new IP's,

It would also lead to massive pirating on the console since people won't want to deal with that sort of bs

So you are saying it will make do difference? Because most people already only get 1-3 games a year and ignore new IPs

just look at the 360's current attach ratio and you will know that is wrong

The definitive evidence that video games turn people into mass murderers

wow really? are they trying to lose customers on purpose. whatever developers like it or not, used games are part of the industry.

If Microsoft does this, its extremely unlikely that Nintendo and Sony would follow suit. This would be a reason to stay away from microsoft's next console and opt for the others.
