Miyamoto is finally "retiring"

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Miyamoto is finally "retiring"

Thank you for entertaining me throughout my entire life. I am humble onto you and only wish the best for you Mr. Miyamoto. Stay by Nintendo's side and usher in another golden age of Nintendo glory. May Nintendo live forever!

(Those are my words for whenever he decides to step down)

Is he still working on Nintendo's latest IP? Dillon's Rolling Western looks pretty good, especially the protagonist.

Miyamoto and Nintendo entertained me since I was 6 and now 17. They done a great job with Super Smash Bros on N64 which made me become a Nintendo fan since I didn't know Link, Samus, Fox, Kirby, Captain Falcon and Ness. Then me and my brother decide to learn more and got some of their game then we grew on Nintendo. I never forget what Nintendo done back then. Although I myself plan to support them by opening my own game studio.

"Nintendo fan for life"

The real question is if he is doing this voluntary or if he was forced to step down. In which case Nintendo still would like to keep him around, but not with as much power as he currently has, doing it in a manner that makes it look like everything is fine to the public. As far as I know, Miyamoto was heavily involved in the creation of the 3DS (moreso than with any previous system) and it was off to the worst start for a Nintendo handheld ever.

As for his stepping down, its better it happened sooner than later. And its good to hear he's going to be developing small projects. As for the 3DS's horrible start, Shigeru can't take any blame for that. Well, except for maybe the fact that the 3DS only has one slide pad, which is something Nintendo regrets.

NINTENDO

nintendo forever . . .

I think "retiring" means something different in Japan. When you retire here, it is when you are done work, you go out and enjoy the rest of your life as free time.

It sounds like to me he is just stepping down.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

kopstudent89,

Please update your OP with the updated news that he's not retiring or stepping down. Not everyone is going to read through the entire thread to find the updated news.
