Hmm, maybe offtopic, but people like jhlennon1 should get banned, as they are really angry and making pointless contributions to the threads.

Just an advice jhlennon1 calm down, yesterday you were bashing the site, now nintendo, if you cant admit and if u cant get over the fact that nintendo is winning then look for help, you cant change the truth.

If anything, this news should actually pose the question wheather the PS3 sales are being overtracked (still) by vgchartz, rather than undertracked like all the fanboys claim. The 3.9 mill shipped LTD number is actually lower than would be expected for a console that supposedly has sold 3.5 million units to gamers in NA (according to vgchartz).

You see, Sony has a history of stuffing retail pretty well with tons of PS3s, so having only 3.9-3.49 mill = 400,000 units sitting on retail shelves is a minimum as I see it. You can compare this with the ratio of shipped/sold we have for X360, 17.7 mill shipped, 16.0 mill sold, which suggests that nearly 1 million consoles are sitting on retail shelves as we speak (in NA).

So, with all the anecdotal reports about X360 Premiums being sold out, does anyone really believe there are nearly a million X360s stuffed in retail out there, but less than 400,000 PS3s?

So, no way the PS3 has been undertracked by ioi/vgchartz, nor LTD or during holidays. In my opinion these official Sony numbers, if anything, proves that fact.

Your completely wrong, the xbox360 is being overtracked and the ps3 is being undertracked.

And to the Wii fans, you get a lol. You can quote hardware sales while the best hardcore 3rd party games are on PS3/360. What is the use of great hardware sales when 3rd parties don't care about you? lol

That's one of the last strongholds PS3/360 fans can boast about and even that one will fall. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Really? You think Konami are going to start making MGS4 type games on the Wii?  You think S-E are going to use their best team and make FFXIII on the Wii despite the fact that their best games are busy with other projects? Take Two lol'ed at GTA on the Wii and they don't produce anything decent other than that, Epic don't seem to give a crap about Wii games, Namco games have a quality issue and Tekken 6/Soul Calibur 4 are not on the Wii, Capcom have Resident Evil 5 and DMC4 which both are currently not on the Wii and DMC4 not ever happening.

While you have EA, Activision, Ubisoft in Microsoft's back pockets due to amazing software sales.

You see the problem? There is not a lot left and quality games take time, meaning the Wii could be in for a very amusing 2008 game wise.

You are right. There is no way that Capcom would put one of their major titles like Monster Hunter on a low powered gimmicky system. They clearly see that the Wii is a worthless money sink after a 2 year old port of a port only managed to sell 1.3 million copies. Doom is just around the corner!

I am going to put my serious face on here for a moment. How many blockbuster titles have been announced for the PS3/360 since the Wii became clearly dominant? I know we have the same old exclusives that have been talked about since forever ago (SC$, DMC4, FFXIII and RE5) but how many new titles have actually been announced since say middle of last year? I pick that date rather arbitrarily to find a spot after the Wii sales showed that they were not going to decline anytime soon.

JHLennon is a good poster. He disagrees with what many have to say -- I really don't see anything wrong with his posts here.

I don't think he should get a ban, but this...

"What is the use of great hardware sales when 3rd parties don't care about you? lol"
is still a trollish thing to say. You see nothing wrong with that?

It's a bit spiteful, definitely, but it's really not worse than what a lot of people say around here. If that type of post was kept up ad nauseum, that would be one thing, but it isn't. I've seen practically everyone take a swipe every now and again, including me, much to my own shame.

By the by, does anyone have a link directly to Sony's latest financial reports? I can't seem to find it.

Fair enough, I was just a bit perplexed by the bolded part. ^^^

You're right. Technically and semantically, I don't agree with what I've written -- it's just a turn of phrase. If you'd prefer, replace that cliche with this one: "I really don't have much problem with his posts here."

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a324/Arkives/Disccopy.jpg%5B/IMG%5D">http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a324/Arkives/Disccopy.jpg%5B/IMG%5D">

Only one thing I have to say.  Since retail stores send their sales up weekly, then for Sony to say they know the sales thru the end of the year is impossible.  The sales won't be reported until  1/7/08.  Now, the sales on Dec 31st will ADD to their totals, I know.  But to claim that they know it as the press release does (' during the critical holiday sales window (Friday, November 23, 2007 to December 31, 2007)', is not possible.

The same, of course is true with days in the week up thru Black Friday.  Just pointing out that 100% accuracy in their wording is not there.  But if Jack says "have sold through 1.2 million units of PS3", I'll accept that as sold through to the customer (as their headline says) until NPD says otherwise.

But I do have a question or two.  Does the 1.2M include Canada or not?  After all, VGChartz numbers do, right?  Does NPD collect Canadian retail as well?

Torturing the numbers.  Hear them scream.
