Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Dolphin 3.0 Wii/Gamecube Emulator (7719 build) is awesome

They improved the Dolphin emulator quite a lot since the last time I was playing around with it.

3.0 now natively supports the Wiimote, keyboard mouse setup, 360 controller, Nvidia 3D vision (@full 1080p 3D per eye), forced widescreen gaming and surround gaming (3 monitors). Before you needed to map keys, or use Xpadder...hack the emulator to run 3D Vision, crash every 15 minutes when trying to do surround etc.

The emulation too is much better and framerate is solid for every game i've tried so far (50-60 fps), even when boosting the resolution and AA way up. Sonic Colors for example, when pimped out with 9XMSAA and 1080p looks better than any Ps3 or 360 exclusive.

The question is why can't Nintendo give us something this cool next gen on WiiU? You don't need a crazy GPU or CPU to run this...

what is required to run this program? And can you use it to play actual wii disc or just downloaded iso? I gave my wii to my mom but stilll have some games i would like to play and this m,ay be the solution for me.

It would be great if WiiU had some of that functionality for Wii games but then it would be harder to sell HD collections I guess...

Would love to see some emulated Mario Galaxy...

Do I have to use the Wii to run, tho?

You need to dump them on your hard drive as ISOs. I'll post requirements which I've found work for best results below...

Below are things you will need to run game smoothly in 720p and AA enabled.

- 3.0 Ghz or higher dual core CPU (only uses 2 cores)
- 2 GB or higher of ram
- GTX 260, 4850 or higher
- iso file of the wii/gamecube title you want to play
- latest Emulator build you can find

How to make a Wii or Gamecube iso?

Download Rawdump 2.1 and insert your Game DVD into your DVD Drive. Press "Start Dump". This may take a while. The game will be saved as a .wii or .wod file. After the dump has finished, press "Convert raw to .iso" and you are done. Open the .iso file with Dolphin and have fun.

After so many builds, while Dolphin runs the games pretty nicely, it's still pretty unstable, at least for me (Win XP).
Run one game, alt tab out of game, go back in, crash.
Run one game, exit, run another game, crash.
Doesn't happen every time, though.

Have they fixed Super Mario Galaxy? There were always some problems with the music in that (and low framerates).

Galaxy 2 I played for about 30 mins last week and it works great. No issues. Don't know about Galaxy 1...
