this is what I don't get...developers totally seem on top of the Vita, with Inafune, Sega, and many others offering support, yet people aren't buying it. Best hardware on a portable ever, easily the best system launch ever, fantastic first year planned, dozens of definitive ports (Disgaea, mortal Kombat, Final Fantasy, many others) as well as full fledged console games (Rayman, Marvel vs Capcom, etc)...

Why do gamers suck? they eat up Call of Duty and HAlo like it was vital to survival, they bask in shit like Wii Sports and Wii Play, but when something like Soul Sacrifice comes out, I guarantee it'll be a flop becuase it's too different.

Fuck gamers. fuck them hard and fuck them with a cactus. I want more original material, I want more stuff like Journey or Braid or Flower, I want more games with CONTENT like Skyrim or The Witcher or Red Dead, I want games with good stories, like Final Fantasy (1), Metal Gear Solid, or Assassin's Creed, I want games that are FUN like Ratchet and Clank, Smash Brothers, or Zelda.

But that's a rant on general game direction, not so much the Vita. I just know that a lot of great stuff on the Vita is going to go unnoticed because for some retarded reason, gamers hate Sony and don't like handhelds unless Nintendo's name is on it. Hell, even the PSP was basically a failure (2) because people only bought them for modding. a shame, too, becuase the system was great.

1/ Hard to believe from the very person who rated FFXIII-2 with a (very) harsh 5.4

2/ PSP was great successs in Japan (and still is : see Shining Blade, God Eater 2, Soul Trigger....)

Nevertheless, I agree with your post in a whole.

final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2 had shitty stories, but you can't argue that IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, and XII didn't have good stories.  maybe some of them weren't fan favorites (8, 10, 12), but they all had deep, rich worlds w ith multilayered stories and interesting characters, even if some of those characters were annoying.

badgenome, you are on a roll today!

It just needs high quality handheld experiences, then it will surely take off. Otherwise the old adage "software sells hardware" will have finally been disproven. Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice.... these are all steps in the right direction.

Something Sony should consider doing is quality control. While I'm all for more games, if developers are allowed to continually submit lazy ports and rehashes of existing console games, then the Vita will suffer under the consumer's eyes.

lazy ports?  uh, where's a lazy port?  The only lazy port I've played so far was MLB 12: the Show.  all th eother ports were complete experiences, or in the case of Disgaea 3, superior to its console counterpart, a point I Was sure to drive home in the review.

Well, when I said that I wasn't really refering to the Vita and its current state. I was more refering to the PSP and how that went. Too many lazy ports with only a handful of gems hidden in there.

As you said, even with some of the quality ports that we are seeing on the Vita, there are still some lazy ports and rehashes that get by. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Dungeon Hunter Alliance. Modnation racers also could have used more effort. I was just saying Sony should keep an eye on this and not let the developers run rampantly like on the PSP.

Yoshida said a couple of months ago that he had Allan Becker from Santa Monica take over Japan Studio, so hopefully there will only be more to come. A Japanese version of Sony Santa Monica would be an absolute dream. I'd love to see them do more quirky titles like LocoRoco, Patapon, Last Guy, Patchwork Heroes, etc.

And what's ciel no surge?

Some weird virtual life thing from Gust that we'll never get.

Watch this chick play Gravity Daze (Gravity Rush in english) and I bet you'll go Kawaii from the quality of the cuteness.

Was hoping for something with a bit more... fluff to the environments with Soul Sacrifice. I'm hoping it was just that part of the game that was shown. Kinda tired of third person action games with extremely flat environments on PSP. Still looks interesting though.

Yes but sadly, look at the predicted sales, only 600k total between all 8 games.

That's what a tiny install base will do for ya

Well it says it's packaged only, so it excludes digital sales. Maybe there is another sheet presenting digital sales or is this the norm for Sega to present their data this way?

Good find. Didn't see that. IS that also ww, or just one region?

Don't know, do you have the original source?

^Did you import or do you live in Japan?

Personally, I want to see VC3 on PS3 because I feel like it would have a better chance at getting localized. I can live with a Vita port though, as long as it makes it to the West.

Got Gravity Daze at the import shop in Paris (where I live) and downloaded Ciel no Sourge from the Japanese PSN because it was sold out at the shop. Sadly VC3 isn't making it to the west. A shame because believe me it was a damn good episode!

Mon-ami! Could you pls give us some impressions on Ciel No Surge and gameplay of it? Would be great since the game seems to have a lot of doubts over it

@Deskpro: nice find! I kinda skimmed it cuz I honestly do not wanna see too much of the game :D But I'm sure my reactions while playing it will be just like hers...but in Sinhalese (my native tongue) and English

@Badgenome: I fully agree. Hopefully they will keep this up and frankly I would love it if they put all their resources behind Vita for now...I also wouldn't be surprised if they had already started working on a sequel to Gravity Daze given how much they are pushing the title + fan reaction so far, especially in the west

I'd like to see more support from Western developers, but I guess they are waiting for E3 at this point.

Judging by Sony's big expectations for Vita this year saleswise, I am very excited to see just what makes they so confident.
