lol, me too. I thought we'd see some devs already jumping ship considering they are leaving the vita behind and mid size japanese games aren't selling that great on ps4.

Something like a new God eater for switch/ps4/vita , Toukiden port maybe, DanganRonpa, even a Dragon quest builders port considering how popular the brand is on Nintendo platforms.(was also secretly wishing for Ys/Kiseki). That and ports of a western game or 2. I don't think I was too hyped since all I'm talking about are ports with the exception of a new God eater.

Then there is room for hype inducing stuff like teasers for pokemon switch, Dragon Quest confirmation for switch, Monster Hunter switch etc... That is not to say these are not coming in the future, but I honestly thought Nintendo would just go all out to hype the fans after the WII U.

Edit : where the f*** ar you Vanillware !!?

One thing's for certain - I was expecting to wake up this morning and see all kinds of amazing Switch news all over the front page. Betrayalton of this dev going over to them

Haha, you're such a nervous nelly!

Success of switch depends entirely on how much they are willing to drop the price and how fast they are willing to do it. The pricing is a fking joke. What a mess

Yeah. What was surprising for me is (so far) it doesn't seem like they've really done anything to court any of the mid-to-big tier games over from PS4/Vita despite a lot releasing over the coming months. Off the top of my head - DanganRonpa V3; Valkyria Revolution; Super Robot Wars V; Musou Stars; Blue Reflection; Accel World vs. SAO etc. All this stuff - Vita games, that'd be an easy port over to Switch that seems to be absent. Instead it just looks like they've gone to Square Enix and given then a small amount of money to port over some recent games and said "that'll do" (and NIS decided to port Disgaea 5 as a "hey look we're Nintendo devs now!" pity port).

I've no doubt that 1 year down the line, we'll see more of these games go PS4/Switch, but right now for the foreseeable future it looks like Vita is still a safe bet for multi-plats. Which of course I'm very pleased with as long as they come west, but still a bit surprised with.

I'm just gonna see where Falcom/Gust end up. Those are my two favourites of the otaku developers. I've a feeling NIS will cling on to Vita/PS4 for a while longer and Compile Heart/Acquire do whatever the hell they want, which is good for us at least (Compile Heart will be on board for longer, I can almost guarantee that. I'd be surprised to see them embracing Switch).

4 years of being a Vita fan has helped with that :P

I think the sales of Sen III will be key for Falcom's strategy. If the game manages to sell numbers that they are pleased with then I guess they will stick with the Ps4. If not, we might end up seeing some ps4/switch Falcom games in the future.

I see that Gust released 3 ds games. Did they not sell well ? I'm guessing that's the case since they haven't touched the 3ds since launch except for Rorona (which they went chibi style with...).

I still maintain Sen III PS4-only is a mistake. They'll need to sell like 160k FW for it to match the predecessors. There's just no way that's happening. It'd have to sell more than Star Ocean did on PS4.

I know Vita held back the previous two release, but this is Falcom, who released a dual-UMD game. Falcom who squeezed all of their PC releases onto PSP. I know they have a specific story they want to tell but there's no reason they couldn't have tailored it to be told on Vita too, and in doing so they'd guarantee themselves ~100k+ sales domestically.

And it'd make more sense to start their next story arc with a PS4-only game - make the most of the hardware, make it a showcase etc. Don't do it for the third in a trilogy, just bizarre.

Ah well.

re. Gust, I guess they'll go wherever. This year they dropped the PS4/PS3/Vita strategy for just PS4/Vita. I'd imagine we'll get Atelier Mysterious 3 in fall/winter on PS4/Vita and then they'll drop Vita and we'll have to see what they do after that.

I honestly have no clue what Japan is thinking about the Switch. The third parties might have seen it before hand and realized this might not do well. I mean, when you bring your Japanese third party developers to your conference and all they say is "We haven't started to work on anything", that's a huge warning. They didn't even show Dragon Quest. PS4 and 3DS have gameplay footage. Such a Japanese focused conference, and they didn't show any Dragon Quest running. I think Square might be worried and are bound by whatever contract they signed back in the DS days. Hell the only game from Square they showed is a PSP looking 2.5D JRPG. That's a huge problem when you consider the 3DS launched with a relatively full fledged Kingdom Hearts game. That excuse of a Street Fighter instead of Monster Hunter is really worrying for the Switch. Like expected this to sell at least 20 million in Japan. I have no clue now. I suspect the Vita's niche might be migrating over to the PS4/PC instead.

I was expecting Capcom's game to be a port of SFV, so I'm not sure if that was better or worse. Still, I laughed out loud when I saw it.

Doesn't necessarily mean anything about Monster Hunter one way or the other, of course. That would probably warrant an event unto itself, but what Capcom said about wanting to make the series more popular in the west makes me think the next one is going to be on PS4.

OMG

Saw Velocity 2 at stores in the vita section which surprised me since they don't usually sell those in stores.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

Sony funded Street Fighter 5.  I thought at first too, since they changed the menu to have really ugly looking models that would probably work on the NS, but I guess Sony still wants the game.  For Monster Hunter, they could have annoinced something like they did with Dragon Queest.  Maybe their contract is over and Capcom wants more from the franchise, as you mentioned.
