Forums - Gaming Discussion - FFXIII-2 E3 BOOTH Gameplay!!

http://kotaku.com/5809306/watch-as-real-humans-play-final-fantasy-xiii+2/gallery/1

Looks great, far better than that disappointing excuse for a trailer we got!

Liked the bit where we got the behemoth to fight for us too!

Things I liked:

1) The view of the map screen, it was big and full of nooks and crannies and stuff!
2) Even though it was a dungeon, there were NPC soldiers out n about, talking to them actually gave scenario related info instead of scenery descriptions.
3) Almost constant "chatter" with fellow characters, at least for the part of the demo we were in.

Things I didn't like:

1) Its raining

2) The mooogle clock encounter thingy might be annoying, can't say until I try it.

3) NO LIGHTNING!

________

Better quality gameplay will come later, from other images from the gameplay booth we know this:

- Dungeons/maps have a weather system

- Maps have a completion % so there may be hidden areas

- Pre-emptive strikes isn't just hitting the back of the enemy anymore, something called a moogle clock has been added in

- Dialogue options are present in the game at points.

- You can get gil at the end of battles, so the economy system of XIII-2 seems to be different to XIII's

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

The pace of the battles were my main gripe (outside of the story). I found myself mentally exhausted after each battle, and the fact that we couldn't properly grind due to level caps pretaining to the story for the first 11 chapters pissed me the fuck off. If they take the level caps and if the pace is as smooth as this one is I'll be happy.

I'm not saying I want the game to be easy, I just don't want every battle to feel long and stretched out. I want to be able to grind so at certain points I can feel overpowered.

Off topic but to me Kobe and Shaq = Best tag team EVER! ^_^

Looks good. I enjoyed FFXIII, so I imagine I will enjoy this too

Thank god they seem to have learned from their mistakes.

Let's see if it's up to the expectations.

Hearing impressions from some people who played the demo I heard the cinematic action in battles is pretty good cus at times characters converse making battles feel more life like/less mechanical.

Apparently the cinematic action thingy's are similar to limit breaks.
