Final Fantasy XIII-2 contains an “exciting and developed strategic battle system”

Not much has been said about Final Fantasy XIII-2 since it was revealed at Square Enix’s 1st Production Department Premier event back in January. In spite of the silence surrounding the project, it’s still on track for a Q4 release in Japan. Game Informer will have a preview of the latest Final Fantasy title in their upcoming issue, but while we wait for new information, perhaps this blurb from the Xbox Live Marketplace will tide you over for now.

“The unfolding drama of Final Fantasy XIII, released in 2010 and selling six million copies worldwide, continues in Final Fantasy XIII-2. Explore a richly developed world featuring both new and familiar faces, and an exciting and developed strategic battle system. In this ongoing saga, the future is about to change…”

I hope there are cities wich you may explore and NPCs you can talk with in FF13-2. I want buy the weapons at shops in cities and not at savepoints and one oft the best part in RPGs is the exploration of the world and, FF13 had none of this aspects. I really hope FF13-2 change the things who was bad in FF13.

No haters yet ? , wow that's an accomplishment .. :p ( Edit :  too late :p  )

the battle system was the best part of XIII , it seems that they're taking it to the next level , Paradigm Shift FTW

I liked the battle system in XIII but hopefully the give you more control over your party members

Explore graphically impressive corridors featuring both new and familiar faces, and an exciting and developed strategic battle system, unless we managed to fuck up what was hands down the best thing about the previous game. In this ongoing saga, the consequences will never be the same…!”

Fixed for improved factualness.

*waits for Hatmoza to post*

oooooh no SE needs to keeps its fuckin mouth SHUT!

they did this shit with FF Xlll  ..... dont not talk..show thats it great

The main focus of this game neeeds to be giving control back to the player so that we may play the game as we please

Even though FFXIII's battle system was one of the aspects of the game that got praised, I didn't really like it that much. I would rather be able to control all of the member's of my party and I felt it was a little too fast paced. Excpet for the last few battles you didn't really have to do anything other than keep clicking x.

Awesome. I have a strong feeling their going to make FFXIII-2 what everybody though XIII was going to be. I expect lots of exploration, NPC's, towns to explore, and lots more side quests.

I personally enjoyed XIII a LOT but I can understand where Final Fantasy fans had problems with it being so linear. The battle system however really was the shining gem of the whole game so if they just improve a bit on it without totally changing it I'm ok with that, but just don't change it too much SquareEnix because I think XIII had the best battle system out of all of the Final Fantasy's.

As much as i did enjoy FF XIII i really do hope that they sort the battle system to be more like X or even XII since the Gambit system was pretty interesting. I do miss actually having things to do in the games these days, like side-quests and secret locations (i.e. many many of them in VIII and IX and even X and XII) so i fail to see why there was none in the current games...

Airships are also a part of the games that have been sorely missed since the PS1 games and i hope they find a way of bringing these back (as in controllable ones). I doubt that XIII-2 will address everything that we ask for but i hope that the inevitable XV does
