Sales are by their very nature a democratic process. Every person who buys a Wii votes for "Wii deserves higher sales.", the number of them that "vote" that way determine what the console deserves...not 1 person's opinion.

 

BTW - I don't think anyone should be pushing leo-j out. Thats just ridiculous, he is entitled to his views as much as anyone, and while I may be someone who gives him a hard time about his views it doesn't mean I want him to stop posting just because I don't agree. Leo, if you aren't enjoying your time reading/posting on this site then you should leave for that reason, not because someone doesn't want you here, don't let a bunch of strangers make decisions for you, decide for yourself.

Just ignore him if you disagree. I see Wii as the best console ever made while still loving every moment since I bought my PS3. Obviously, some people are just too narrow-minded to look beyond their tastes and even try something different.

I dont get it, why everytime I come people are picking on leo-j..poor guy he's only a kid.

Keep in mind, most of the people who are buying up the wii are not doing so just for their children.

My first suggestion in approaching the wii is to forget this whole "kiddy" mentality people have toward Nintendo. It really isn't founded on any real basis.

Secondly, if the system doesn't attract you, then don't buy it. There is no need to buy something just because it is popular.

Thirdly, just because it doesn't appeal to you does not mean it won't appeal to the mass market. You are probably looking for different things from a console than the general public is.

Remember, basically because of the Wii and DS, the demographic of 'gamers' is changing dramatically. The 'gamer' kind is barely the majority, and possibly the minority now, and the trend will continue I am sure.

The same thing happened in the late 80s early 90s with computer usage and the internet. Those went from a small niche markets to nearly global adoption. The same seems to be happening with the console arena.

However, from a gaming perspective remember this about the wii: almost no one expected the success of the Wii so there was hardly any 3rd party support out of the gate. When the wii took off, 3rd parties rushed to publish games with bad ports and mini game mash ups. Quality titles take 18 months or more to make so very good 3rd party games that will interest the core gaming community should be arriving this year.

@leo-j: What exactly makes you think Nintendo doesn't deserve the sales numbers it is getting?

Thank you for listing Fire Emblem, a lot of people seem to forget this/these games but they're not for the weak of heart. Even today after playing games a good 17+ years Fire Emblem on Hard mode still kicks my a$$ something aweful from time to time. Edit: Guys leave Leo-J alone he's asking for a firm hand to the face every other post he seems to make but really it's not his fault. There's a lot of Nintendo fans recently(most of us aren't loyal because I didn't see half as many of you guys during GC days but hey I can't judge) and Sony fans such as himself feel overwhelmed. It's still no excuse for him practically asking to be flamed so badly his computer explodes.. I guess what I'm saying is when he says something that's obviously stupid or flamebait let it slid stop giving it attention..
