It's certainly feasible, remember the gap between the release of the original Smash Bros. and Melee?

what was the gap?

2 years =P

Well now it looks more possible that the next one could be announced this year.

Also Brawl was announced at a pre E3 conference in 2005, that's 3 or 4 years after Melee launched depending on where you live.  It's now 3 years since Brawl, so a new SSB isn't out of the question.

That would blow the roof out of the E3 arena! I really do hope this is true.

No online at all would be great. They could spend more time making the single player actually fun.

@soleron gonna have to respectfully disagree with you on that one, i thought Brawl's SP was perfect ok so the Subspace Emmisary got way to freaking long, but IMHO the time they delayed the game should have worked more on at least making online less laggy. Im older and me and my friends have scattered to the four winds, its impossible to get together and play like in the Melee days, i kinda depend on online

Well given the nature of the Cafe rumors that have been swinging around lately, and how a lot of them have turned out to be pretty true (the fact that cafe even exists, for example), I honestly think this could be real.  In fact, I kind of hope it is becuase I don't touch my wii anymore, not even to play Brawl (which I felt was better than Melee).

Gimme megaman, Wolf Link/Midna, Travis Touchdown, and about a dozen other newbies, keep ALL the old players and game modes, and give us better online and a level creator, and I'm sold coubly so.  then again, I'd buy SSBB again just for the hell of it since I love that game so much.

Although our sources within the industry are few and far between, we do have them and what they are telling us is that Nintendo will be showing off the next Super Smash Bros. game at this year’s E3. On top of that, it’s said that it will be shown for the Wii’s successor.

We don’t yet know how true this is, so for now we’ll keep this as a rumor. We also would like to know if the game will be shown in video or playable form. Knowing that Kid Icarus: Uprisingfor the Nintendo 3DS is almost done, it’s quite possible that Masahiro Sakurai has been working on the next Super Smash Bros. title.

Here’s lookin’ at you E3 2011. I’m sure if this turns out to be true, there will be many a happy gamer at this year’s expo.

On another note, if nintendo does reveal a new smash, then I'm buying first day!
