Forums - Gaming Discussion - Does PSN problem = Red Ring of death.. in losses for Sony??

I'd say no.

One, hacking, etc. is seen as outside intrusion and although it creates a short term panic most people are aware it happens - in short, I don't think, unless something else emerges about the hack or it happens regularly, that it will harm Sony image as much as RROD did MS.

Two, so far, assuming no CC liability, etc. I'd warrant the cost of losing a week or so of PSN revenue plus a short term dip in console sales will not come anywhere near losing $1 billion to RROD - in short, I expect the cost to Sony to be less than the cost of RROD to MS.

So no.  Not that it won't cost Sony, it will, just not as much based on current status and the current outlook for when PSN will be up and the declaration CC details weren't touched (and a rumour containing incorrect details doesn't make me think they have been at this point).

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Seems like this little malfunction is gonna cost Sony alot of money to fix, not to mention the lawsuites and bad publicity PSN is recieving. I hate to say it but this Reminds me of the red ring of death for 360.....How much did Ms lose because of that little disaster?

TOUGH LUCK SONY, HOPE YOU GET BACK ON YOUR FEET

I did no research but, I think MS profited from the RROD.

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

looks like this is supposedly gonna cost sony 24 billion!!

If true Sony is in deep trouble, probably out the console business?

The 24 billion figure doesnt make any sense. It was based on the assumption they would have to pay 300$ to every accountee, even the one that didnt suffer any kind of loss, which dont make sense at all. Let alone that if they arent prove of having a sub par security system, they have insurance.

You do know that rumor has now been dismissed by sony. And even if that were true sony would not be out of the console business.
